I have an air conditioner on an RV that would throw the breaker every time it went to start up. I thought I would try this first as they told me they needed to replace the air conditioner. I put it in very easy to install turned on the air conditioner and it works fine all it needed was this part, saved me hundreds of dollars.

The compressor in my A/C system had seized, l installed this hard start booster, was able to get the compressor to start working again, installed a special oil additive to the system which prevents future seize ups and the unit is working fine now it has been about 2 weeks now. Very good product works very well as it was intended.

Good quality the installer needs to be qualified before attempting installation.

My a/c guy recommended one of these. Luckily I had already researched YouTube and self-diagnosed the problem so I had this. He read this one; it fit the specs but was smaller than the one he sells. So he said he’d rather use his since he knows it will work. And he got to charge me $150 for his instead of the $10 or $20 I paid for this one. I let him…suffering from 90 degree heat a day made me crazy!So I leave this review as recommendation - in hindsight I would’ve asked him to hook it up and see. Although the service call is $125 to have him come back if it didn’t work - just FYI

Had this sitting in the shed for over a year as a backup. I had to install it about 6 weeks ago, now I am replacing it again with the same I bought 6 weeks ago for another backup. Going to see if I can find a different brand to order this time for a backup.

Great product, about $11 only including shipping with my prime Amazon account! I only spend five minutes to fix my 17 years old 3 ton air conditioner! Save $400 if a professional needs to come to my house to fix it! Technical notes: if both the House circulation fan and the cooling unit fan are working, but cooling at the house vents stops completely with only air but not cool air, that means that the compressor stater or the capacitor attached the start fail, one or both. Just simply order both the capacitor (about $15) and the starter (about $11) from Amazon. Replace the old ones, and your old AC will work like a charm instantly! Other information: note that your AC unit should work normally before it quits working. When the AC unit quits working all a sudden with the AC unit fan still running. You can use your hand to touch the small copper tubing just outside the AC unit, it should not be warm. And the big copper tubing next to the small tubing is not cold either. This means that the compressor fails to start due to a bad starter! If the AC unit fan stop running (not the house circulation fan), that means the compressor capacitor is bad. Thus you need to replace the capacitor. Normally, the capacitor and the starter will not go bad at the same time. Have fun fix your AC unit and save big dollars!

Every year the A/C guy comes in and tries to sell me a new unit. This year he showed me my capacitance measurements during the sales pitch. I replaced the existing start capacitor and hard start kit. This might add a few extra weeks to the lifespan of this 20 year old unit.

Since thats what matters, no idea why they don't list it. Its a 170mF cap rated to 277V. Measured to confirm and seems to be exactly that. Should work for almost any domestic North American AC or residential motor.
