Better quality and performance than most chef's clothing.
I work in a professional kitchen that often gets very hot. The mesh back panel keeps me cool in these conditions and that is a life saver. Some shirts like this look funny because the mesh back panel looks different than the rest of the shirt. These shirts are a uniform color, and the way they are cut and sewn makes them look very professional, unlike some of the overly baggy chef's shirts and tunics I have purchased. I would feel totally comfortable going out to the pub for a beer after work wearing this, as it looks good, fits well, and is almost indistinguishable from a regular black button up shirt. They have also held up to many wash cycles without pilling or losing their dark black color. The sizing is accurate. The price is fair. Highly recommended.

Take your culinary attire to the next level.
Just like I said in the Mercer Culinary cooks pants, the same goes for this shirt, get ready to bring your culinary attire to the next level. I was surprised to see that the medium shirt fit me so well considering my waist actually measures 39 inches. It fits very comfortably. Just like the pants the material is 65% polyester, and 35% cotton. It has a very silky feel to it. It is substantial enough to hold up to the rigor yet thin enough to provide some relief in a hot kitchen. I really love the way the shirt and the pants look. The care instructions are symbols inside of the label which I am unable to decipher. Since they are a cotton poly blend with two thirds of it being poly you can probably apply standard washing instructions for that type of material. I would suggest washing them separately for the first two washes. This is something I am hoping to get a lot of use out of when I create the videos for the diet program that I am on. I spent a lot of time remodeling the kitchen, and now that attire is befitting it. It fits well, lays nice on your body, and enhances your look, not detract from it.

Wonderful cooling design, well-made shirt with top quality fabric & secure buttons
So pleased with this Mercer Culinary shirt. Well designed for hot kitchens but this shirt is being worn to work as a museum docent, taking kids on tours of a museum (well certain buildings) that are not air conditioned. What a difference the mesh back of the shirt makes! One of the pics shows the mesh back of the shirt. It is designed to not show bare flesh through it, however. So much cooler to wear than traditional shirts! The medium size fit a size 34 waist man with a medium build perfectly! The buttons on the front of the shirt are arranged in a single column rather than the double breasted style I saw in some pics. I like that they were in a single column so the shirt would not look so much like a chef's shirt since I am using it for an alternate purpose.

Look and cook like a pro with this jacket.
With this jacket my family has to acknowledge that I am the households cook. With this jacket I look like a cook, I move like a cook, and I’ll be darned if this jacket doesn’t make my food look and taste like it was cooked by a pro.At 5’10” 178lbs the medium jacket fully buttoned fits fine over a t-shirt. I could have gone with a large, but when cooking I don’t like loose fabric flapping around, I’d rather have a jacket that confirms to my body, and the medium does that without feeling constricting. It looks nice, feels nice, and holds up well in the laundry. All I need now is a hat.

Practical if not stylish cook jacket
This isn't a classic chef jacket; it only has a single row of buttons, as opposed to the double-breasted chef's jacket. That's a good thing, in my opinion, because chef's jackets can add a lot of bulk that impedes movement. In size medium, this jacket was indeed unisex, fitting both my spouse and myself. The mesh back isn't even noticeable, as it's the exact color of the black front. If you're a woman, you may want to wear a black undergarment -- the double-layer mesh is somewhat see-through, though not very. The fabric is sturdy and should stand up to washing and wearing (65% polyester, 35% cotton), although if it's large on you, it's not going to shrink much because of the low cotton content. As to style, my spouse said they didn't like it because they felt like a truck driver wearing it. But I imagine if you're in a hot kitchen all day, whether cooking or washing dishes, this would be a good choice.
