Marantz SR6012 9.2 Channel Full 4K Ultra HD Network AV Surround Receiver with Heos black, Works with Alexa (Discontinued by Manufacturer)

Very happy with this upgrade from my previous (decade old) Onkyo receiver. It is a bit unfair to compare products that are 10 years apart, and that is not my objective. This Marantz receiver has several things I was looking for.1) streams Tidal (and other streaming services) at highest lossless quality2) movie voice quality is very clear (not entirely sure why, but it is easier to understand dialog)3) HEOS makes it easy to manage the receiver for playing internet radio and other stream sources4) audio setup is pretty easy, and produces good resultsMovies have a great sound with what I would call, for lack of a better word, "natural" rather than an overpowering hyped up sound. Power seems to be there effortlessly when it is needed, and leaves subtle scenes subtle.I listen to a lot of what might be called "acoustic" music (orchestral, jazz ...) and find this Marantz receiver to be giving me excellent sound from sources including Tidal and CDs. DVDs like Eric Clapton Unplugged are a delight to listen to and watch over and over. Berlin Philharmonic Digital Concert Hall using the Roku app is also giving me really excellent sound.I have seen a few review comments about this receiver running hot, but I am not seeing a problem with that. It gets warm but not hot.

This was used in dedicated media room in 7.2.2 configuration running a Definitive Tech speaker system. Ran fine for 3 years then started having problems with no HDMI output to projector. Now all HDMI output is nonexistent. Amplifier for audio is fine and works great. System ran approximately 30 hours a week. Always connected to full battery backup and surge suppression. I even ran an external fan for cooling. Have not spoken to Marantz on the feasibility of repair as it likely has a burnt HDMI board. Will try to use a HDMI 4x2 splitter to continue to use the amplifier and send video to projector on 1 HDMI and send other to receiver with switch set to duplicate input to both outputs. Will post back if this is good get around for this problem. I previously had a Onkyo which developed same problem. Suspect all these companies use same circuit boards and they are not made to last.

Upgraded from an Onkyo sr705 and the sound difference is staggering on my b&w 700series.. ease of operation was nice as well. The Audyssey found a speaker out of polarity, which was from the factory.. but I couldn’t tell on the Onkyo, sound was pretty good but I felt like the 700’s weren’t alive and was I right!! And that the mid was out of wack and sounded off... and it was. It goes get pretty hot when pushed, but the top mount fan i bought with it is great, made for it as far as looks go,Bluetooth and WiFi set up are easy and work well... very happy with the receiver and ease of operation.. deff worth every penny

Receiver is great so far. I have my front tower speakers bi-amped and they sound great. I'm currently running a 7.1 system . Setting it up was easy but at first I didn't realize you are supposed to do all of the setup on the tv. I was looking for a way to change settings on the amp itself like my old school amp had. Once I realized you do all of the setup through the HDMI on your TV, it went pretty well. My only complaint so far is that they didn't send me the microphone to do the speaker setup. They sent me the cardboard stand and everything else for it, but the microphone itself wasn't in the box. I call Marantz and they said they would send me a microphone so I can do the speaker calibration. When I receive the microphone I'll change my overall rating to 5 star.

Hands down best receiver I have ever bought. Sounds great. Very important to run Audessy. It replaced a pioneer sc-81. I got tired of constantly adjusting the speaker levels in order to obtain the best sound. I can here sounds in movies from my Klipsch speakers that I never heard before. Picture also has been improved. I do not have a 4K tv so I can not comment on that. But I am sure it will be perfect judging of how good it looks at 1080p. Osd menus are very modern and friendly. I don’t believe it runs hot at all. Just make sure there is good airflow if you put it in a tight space. Very impressed with the receiver. Time for 4K tv and couple more speakers to take full advantage of all the benefits the receiver has to offer.

I purchased this unit in September 2018. I've been very happy with the sound quality and I would say it is even better than the Denon 3808ci that I've owned. This Marantz unit started heating up excessively about 2 months ago and a couple of boards got fried. I sent the unit for repairs to the nearest service center in Georgia. It is important to note that it cost me $80 to ship it there and that this is not covered by Marantz. I has been almost 6 weeks since I sent the unit in for repairs. The repair shop has been blaming Marantz for not sending the required parts. They still don't have the parts and god only knows when those will arrive. Not being able to use my media room is an inconvenience as I love my entertainment. This is considered an upmarket AV receiver and so I am quite disappointed by the Marantz responsiveness. Lesson learned for me is to do a little bit more research on the sellers warranty, returns policy and repair procedure. I wish I'd purchased this through Costco and that way I could've just swapped the defective unit for a brand new one.

Decent price. Good design, solid sound, easy on screen set-up menu and speaker selections. Love it.

Not very good with Alalog interfaces, great for HDMI though. Difficult to get refund, missing lots of stuff, not like new

Easy to set up, but you need the full 12 speakers to enjoy to the fullest, else, it had a few lacks. I recommend this product
