It's Okay
I bought this to replace my older vesion of mixcraft because of burner malfunction issues. The primo burn engine that is the default burner will not work with windows 7 64 bit. This is the case with this version also.

CD DIDN'T INSTALL ON MY LAPTOP (WINDOWS 8).....INSTEAD I HAD TO DIGITALLY DOWNLOAD IT.
Ok! so hands down, This is thee best full studio software i've ever had (its my first) but it works just fine.....kinda complicated when first starting out but once you get the hang of it.....smooth sailing. My buddy was cheap and bought the Acoustica version (The one that comes already with the MIC) NOT REC! And now he's jealous because my songs sound 10x better.....I also give credit to the guys from Audio Technia....If you're going to purchase this product, you might wanna consider the 2020 mic...That's the one I have and I love it...ABSOLUTELY worth the money.

Acoustica Mixcraft Pro Studio 5
If you are looking to buy a DAW, don't waste your time with Mixcraft. The patches sound cheap and it isn't worth anywhere near $150. Had I known it was going to be like this I wouldn't have wasted my time with such a worthless product. I've used it twice and there won't be a third time. If I could send it back I most definitely would.

The most efficient way to get your songs from your head to vinyl.
I don't write reviews much, but having owned and used this since March, I feel I have to. After twelve years of audio recording using Cakewalk, many versions of Sonar, Cubase, and several others I reached a point of total burnout and frustration. Getting hardware and software synths/VSTs to work with the Audio Recording software was a chore, and figuring out how to do basic things like track automation, sending effects, took forever due to the counter-intuitive interfaces. Worse, every time a new release of Sonar came out you were stuck learning everything again. No matter what I did, I always found myself spending 75% of my time fighting my DAW/Audio Recording SW anytime I changed hardware, instruments, or just about anything. I bought Mixcraft not expecting much, but I tell you I am amazed at how productive I am now. I don't spend my time fighting with my DAW, I am spending my time recording, mixing and producing music. I never even read a manual or watched a video, and I was running with this by the second day with a host of hardware, MiDi instruments, and audio interfaces. Also, seems to be very efficient in terms of CPU load. Sonar especially would die on a relatively modest song (few dozens of tracks and effects), whereas the same songs re-created in Mixcraft run like a dream. With punch-in/punch-out recording, track and clip automation, easy to use bus structure, send effects, and a multitude of quality loops and effects, and support for VST/VSTi (even multi-track), this is a tool with a suitable interface and workflow for musicians, with enough complexity to satisfy the engineer in you if you want to go there.

I kinda like avoided Pro Tools mostly because its a little pricy ...
Ive been a musician all my life... but it has been only recently that I have been swimming in the waters of recording things... I dont have a studio. I just do a lot of MIDI stuff and now, the oportunity has come to make narrations and podcast and other stuff. I kinda like avoided Pro Tools mostly because its a little pricy for me right now and because Ive been involved in projects were it is used and it seemed to me that I would need too much time to play with it and learn how to do tricks with it.Somehow I heard about MixCraft and started using a trial version as long as I could......I fell in love with it. It's super easy, super intuitive... So, I decided to get the Pro version, since it comes with several additional tools and more loops and Pianissimo (VST Piano) and more instruments. It allows me to use other plug-ins, which is definitely a plus+ and the amps and master presets that come with it are super handy.Im happy with it. I guess I wouldnt recommend it if you have a big professional studio or if you intend to build a professional studio; but if you are like me, that want to do simple MIDI works every now and then with some vocals, or make simple recordings, try it. Get the MixCraft 6 trial version first and think this one comes with more tools and loops and Pianissimo and more instruments.

Wonderful DAW and a great value!
This DAW is fantastic and one of the best values of all the DAWs available. It is extremely powerful and easy to use. But the documentation is underwhelming. For example, if you search the help topics for the included Moog Synthesizer, the only information provided is the history of the Moog. I hardly think anyone would search the help topics for history lessons. One thing the help manual is good for is finding out what is available in the package and some meager clues on their use. But do not despair! Acoustica has its very own Youtube channel, "acoustica222", which includes many great tutorials that anyone, beginner to professional, should benefit from. Of course, Youtube has some great tutorials from others, as well. This package is highly recommended for all digital audio practitioners. Here is an update as of 6-18-2014: I contacted customer support with a technical question and they responded within an hour! Their suggestion was great!Update 1-19-2015: Mixcraft Pro Studio 7 has been out for a few months now and it is fantastic! It really blows the competition away. It is available in both 32 and 64 bit versions for both Mac or PC. It is not offered yet on Amazon but you can get it from Acoustica.com .

This is good stuff
This DAW should in the studios magazines and in the big stores. This is a really well built piece of software. I used it to record my last record and the results were amazing. The interface is way much simpler to navigate than Pro Tools, and it is very easy to understand. In the mix window each track has a built in EQ, it really feels like a real console. This DAW comes with a lot of high quality plugins, so that is one of the reasons I find it harder to go back to pro tools. The best plugins I have ever try impressively came from this DAW.I would love for more people to know more about this DAW. One of the best experiences in my life was making a record with this software. I will recommend to everyone from pros to bigenners. The only down side is that there is not a Mac version, but my windows pc handled very well.
