This Extended Cab Door Handle is a great replacement handle for a 2004 Silverado truck. It's a perfect fit, and installed easily. It's a quality product, and should last a long time due to the metal construction.

I bought this pair because I keep having these handles break, so I wanted to replace them with actual metal handles. The design is such that you get a lot of force being placed on one tiny lever, hence why they break so often. Well... Originally the handle on one side of my truck was broken, so I installed this replacement at that time. But I just held onto the other handle until a little over a year ago, when I replaced that one because the plastic one it was replacing was getting loose. Alas- Nope, that metal replacement handle busted after about 1 year of use. I'm now in the market for another handle, and definitely want a metal handle, but I don't think I'll be buying this brand again if one of them only lasted 1 year.

After 22 years, the plastic catch release nose on the OEM rear door handle of my 2002 Silverado 2500HD extended cab broke off. The OEM unit is all plastic and was not up to the job. On this product, the handle you grab and the nose that releases the door's catch are cast from one piece of metal. I don't know what type of metal, but it is not magnetic, and I assume it will be a lot stronger than the aged OEM plastic. The rest of this product is made of plastic, but that plastic is not as stressed as the nose that releases the catch is. This is an easy repair; two screws and it slips right in. I advise Loctite. I replaced both latches in hopes of solving this problem forever. They have smooth action and perform all functions.

This product arrived very quickly and was a breeze to install. You'll have to look on YouTube to see how to install, as there is no documentation provided. However, I would assume that is because only someone who knows what they need would be ordering this item.

I like the part but was in a few pieces as the main pin was pretty short and could not hold the retaining clip
