The binding has a lovely leather crisscross tie detail. Inside the notebook is a 6 ring binder for ease in removing or adding refills. It takes only one of the two A6 paper refills I found on Amazon so far. The 6 hole PAPER inside is 4" wide x 6 5/8" tall leaving about a quarter inch of clearance from the top and bottom of the notebook. The top of the first hole is .75" from the top of the paper. The bottom of each of the next holes to the top of the next hole is .55" except for the large space between the set of three holes which is 1.80" from bottom of the third hole to top of the fourth hole. Beautiful set. The antique map box it comes in can be an decor item or gift box on its own as there is no branding label on it. As a gift, this set is beautifully presented. I chose this set because it has a pen holder that also holds the ink bottle. The peacock feather I received is shimmering irridescent shades of brown, green, and turquoise blue with navy blue. While secured to the fountain pen, it does move when the pen is being used. You might want to secure it to the Steampunk charm so the movement doesn't throw your writing off but even if you don't, I don't think it's a problem...just a distraction. I love everything about this set. Even if you don't use a fountain pen, it makes for wonderful antique or steampunk decor.

I am obsessed with this kit. The feather pen, the candle wax, and the beautiful book all feel so witchy and ancient in the best way. Everything is so detailed and intricate, and it honestly feels like such a good deal for how much you get. The quality is amazing and it makes writing feel special. I love it so much.

Beautiful set. I got this as a gift for a very fussy elderman who never seems interested in anything. He seemed quite impressed. I was stunned at the beauty of the box and quality of the all the pieces.

This is a nice gift calligraphy set with fun journal, several colors of sealing wax, a very cool “gear” wax stamp, and feather quil set. The biggest issue I had with the set was how the feather quill is a little awkward to hold and use. The nibs are a good beginner set of dip nibs. They held a decent amount of ink, and with a little trial and error I figured out the optimal dip depth to get enough ink but not too much. The barrel of the quill is metal and the end has a fun gilded feather (it was bent when I got it but a little warm water and air drying reshaped it just fine) the gift box it came with had almost everything you need to get started. I did not try the included ink because I have a favorite type of dip ink and I rarely write in blue. By far the highlight for me of the set is the sealing wax. There is a small jar of wax pieces and a spoon to melt it in. The seal is a series of gears which fit the steam punk vibe of the whole set. It came with a single piece of “parchment” weathered looking paper, an envelope and a journal with more metal accents on the cover.

Was delighted to open the box and see the lovely gift set. It is packaged nicely and the quill pen, stamp handle and letter opener are heavy and seem well-crafted. The wax seal head is a bit light-weight compared to other seals I have and the design doesn't appear to have much relief to it, so will be interesting to see how well it turns out when I test it. The notebook cover is wonderfully decorated and feels reasonably sturdy. I was surprised to find that the papers are held in place by binder-type rings so its easily refillable, although having them actually stitched in would have made it a little more special. All in all, it was a delight to open this set and I know I will enjoy using it.
