Saved my chaps for Hurricane Ian.
This was the ONLY clips I could get in time before Ian. I bought them just in case we didn't get all the shutters installed (our house had never had shutters ever). I'm in Port Charlotte and we were just on the eyewall and took 11 hours of wind.We thought we'd get it from the south much worse so we concentrated on new shutters on the back and I installed these on the front. Super easy to install, although all I could find was 5/8" plywood at this point. (Tuesday, hurricane came on Wednesday). So I used an oscillating tool to reduce the thickness a bit. That took a lot of time but I had no choice!Well, plot twist, everyone took it hard from the north, and these were on the north side of my house. Everything was great and they came off really easy!I would use them again in a heartbeat and wished we'd just used them for all windows. If I were you though, I'd get the 5/8" (now, not 2 days before) because 5/8" plywood is much easier to find. It'll take you a few cuts and you'll have your security installed.

Hurricane Milton survivor
I live in Tampa, Florida. I purchased a set of 20 in 2017 after hurricane Irma. This week was the first time I had to use them in preparation for hurricane Milton. I didn’t read the instructions carefully so I didn’t have enough to secure each plywood with 8+ brackets each, BUT these exceeded all expectations and with just 2-4 per plywood, they worked! A hurricane category 3 beat my house for 9 hours straight. All the plywoods stayed in place! It was super easy to install (I’m a single woman and did it by myself in 1 hour, 6 windows), and uninstall: while my neighbors were getting their drills ready to take down their own plywoods, I was finishing taking down mine alone. Took 20 mins to remove all 6. I’ll be buying more today!

Excellent Product -WORKS GREAT!!
I have bought and used this product in the past. Two Hurricanes so far in Houston, TX. No window problems. If you live anywhere near a coastal region and had tropical storms/Hurricanes, you need this product. It is the only way to install plywood that fits snugly into a window opening without using screws or nails. Once you cut the plywood to size, install the clips on the edges of the plywood and push the plywood into the opening. It locks in place. Removing is also easy. Just pry one clip away from the window with a pry bar or large screw driver and the rest just pop off when you pull on the plywood. I keep the plywood in the garage up against the wall with the window location noted with a permanent marking pen, so I can use them over and over again.

If You Have Brick, Do it!
We moved to Florida 6 years ago, but bought our first house 2 years ago. Having this investment, I researched options for protecting our house. With a potential hurricane coming last year, I went ahead and cut all my plywood pieces (I used pressed flooring panels, treated with Thomson's water sealer, as it was much cheaper than plywood). The installation was amazingly simple, and removal went well also.I also learned that sleeping in a bedroom with the windows blocked out was freaking awesome...so it took me a couple of weeks to remove those two pieces. And the storm turned east and missed us.

Great for easy install of plywood for hurricanes
I have used these before in the past and just ordered another pack to make sure I have plenty on hand for this summer. These are great and make putting up plywood shutters quick and easy. they are bit challenging to remove, but once you figure it out you'll be able to pop them out with a screw driver very quickly. Do understand that these may cause some minor damage to your paint or stucco when removing, but nothing that can't be easily fixed, and it's nothing that would prevent me from recommending these. I wish I could use these on 2nd story windows as well but they won't work due to frame construction up top. I have 9 windows on the lower floor of our house, and with these I can cover them all in less than an hour. I did find that it's helpful to use a single screw to secure them to the plywood while installing, especially with the larger windows. Do yourself a favor, buy a bunch of these, I recommend 6-8 per window, go ahead and precut your plywood so that when a storm is coming you are ready and don't have to be cutting while rushed/stressed.

Great for hurricanes if you have brick
Bought these to be able to put plywood boards in my windows on the brick sides of my house. They grip well and hold the wood in place. Survived a cat 3 hurricane with no damage to windows (just dinged up wood). Make sure you measure the thickness of your wood before ordering the appropriate size plylox. Each one has a hole in the metal so you can permanently attach the metal to the wood if you want. I just put them on without permanently attaching them. A hammer or rubber mallet is good for pounding them into place. When pulling the boards off you may need a claw hammer or something like it to pry the boards loose from the window. After use they may need to be bent back into shape, but they are reusable. Used mine 3 times now. Well worth the cost compared to a new window.
