Extremely portable and very easy to use.
Occasionally I need to solder boundary wire around my yard. I have been dragging out hundreds of feet of extension cords every time I need to fix the wire or even add on or change where the wire goes. The boundary wire is for my lawnmower. This cordless Soldering Iron has saved me a lot of time. Many times I have procrastinated in moving the wire just because of the problem of soldering the new wire to the old. Now, grab the soldering iron and solder and a few minutes later it is done.It is also much easier and quicker than a normal electric soldering iron that can take several minutes to just heat up. I have found myself fixing things that I have been putting off/procrastinating fixing.Pros:1) Small and compact.2) Wireless, rechargeable battery means not needing to plug it in.3) Heats up very quickly.4) Cools down very quickly.5) Does the soldering jobs you need to do.Cons:Wish there was a storage case for when not in use. I do not leave it in the charging base all the time to kill the battery. Even if someone else made a case for it, I would by it if would hold the soldering iron, charging base, power supply and a roll of solder.Yes, I would buy it again. Since I purchased this soldering iron, I have not plugged in my old electric one since.

Use it anywhere
Great form factor comfortable in your hand. I use this primarily in the garage when working on cars or other electronics out there. So nice to not have to drag a cord, wait for the iron to heat up then wait for it to cool down before putting away. This is for wire not greater than about 10ga or relays, pcbs things like that. Still need a large iron or gun for things larger than that. Weller makes great stuff and I’ve used they’re products for 50 years or more.

Best soldering iron I have owned
I was a mechanic or many years and between that and having electronics as a hobby I have had literally dozens of soldering irons, (I still have 14 at this moment) and this one is my favorite. I have 8 other butane irons right now and this is the one I keep on my desk. It cost a little more than the others but is well worth every penny, and I bought the different sized tips for different job since the one that comes with it is a little big for the circuit board work I do. It does run a little hotter that I would like sometimes and would like a temp control and maybe on future models. I also like the fact that I can replace tips and that it has a door to replace the battery in the future, I'm sure I'll be wearing the battery out.

Awesome Little Iron
I purchased this cordless Iron in hopes of making wiring repairs easier on the go. I have a Weller WSD81 and it has been very good to me and has never let me down. Knowing how well Weller soldering irons are I decided to purchase this Portable Rechargeable Soldering Iron.I have been a automotive and diesel technician for over 12 years and I repair a lot of wiring harnesses on all diesel trucks and small cars. I wanted something that I could use when I am working outside on the field. One of my favorites is repairing tractor trailer and box truck roof lights.Pros:1: I like that it is rechargeable and battery life is advertised to last about 45 minutes. It would really depend on your usage and if you are turning it on/off often. I have found that it uses the most power during the initial heat up. I have gotten over 30 minutes which was plenty of time for me to repair the wires. There is a light indicator on the charging cable to let you know when it’s charging (red) and when it is fully charged (green).2: Heats up faster and hold temperature better than my dozen butane irons. I have 4 Butane Irons that work great for a little while but they start to have issues not igniting or maintaining temperature. The tips on the butane irons wear out quickly but this Weller tip has lasted longer than the 4 tips on my butane irons.3: Portability! It is very portable and the feel on the hand is comfortable and easy to hold. The tip works for most applications and various gauge wires without changing tips.4: I have been using this for almost a year and it has not giving me any issues besides me being silly and forgetting to charge it. It works good well in cold weather as well. My butanes always had issues when it starting getting cold out or snowing.Cons:1: Not really a con but a recommendation to Weller. It could be much better if it was made with a removable battery pack so you can switch them out when you run out of battery and need to use it right way or just forget to charge. Otherwise you will need purchase one more to alternate.2: Does not have temperature control. This is one feature that is missing to make it 5 stars. Working with different gauge wires I would definitely like to have the ability to control the temperature.3: Does not have a storage/carry case or tip protector cover.Overall this is a very great simple portable soldering iron at a reasonable price point compared to butane irons and the constant refilling of butane adds to cost more over time.

Functional but not very durable or maintainable
I got this about a year ago and it worked pretty well for the few days that I had to use it. I then put it on the shelf and had to use it about a year later. Unfortunately, it soldered for about 5 minutes and then died. Since it doesn't have a replaceable battery, I took it apart to see what was wrong. There was nothing obvious. I was very disappointed as I have a Weller solder station that I've been using since the 1970 which still works great! I was expecting the same quality from this tool, but it failed to deliver.I decided to see if I could find a more reliable portable iron and eventually found the Milwaukee "M12 12-Volt Lithium-Ion Cordless Soldering Iron Kit" (see image above.) This is almost the same price and is a MUCH better made unit. The construction is 10x more durable, it has changeable tips, and it has a replaceable battery so you can buy new batteries when they die instead of throwing the whole unit out like I had to do with the Weller.
