i believe it is a "smart" hub. i have the 8 port unmanaged switch and it simply passes what you have going to it. if you have segmentation on your network, it will maintain that.

Can i use two computers at the same time with this? the splitter cable i ordered earlier wouldn't so i want to make sure before i purchase.

I am using cat 8 cables. Will this product work? If not what other switch do i need?

CAT-8 or CAT-5, they all work with RJ45 connections. The difference is in the wire. CAT-8 are more powerful and efficient cables, and that is why they handle more speed(electron flow) with less interference vs CAT-5 cables. CAT-8 are recommended for a very high speed devices as stated previously.

Only power light turns on. Ethernet lights doesn't light up or work when i connect ethernet cables to them. Is it possible that it is damage?

Are you sure the source of the ethernet signal to the switch is working? I have two of these switches, and the ethernet posts on each of them turn on the light by the port when a signal is being received or transmitted. If you can verify that the signal source is transmitting, then something is probably wrong with the switch. When you got the switch, there should have been information on how to contact NETGEAR for support and to register your device.
