An affordable alternative to a YETI without sacrificing performance
I have a couple of 30oz YETI tumblers that I received as a gift. A friend noticed how well it keeps my hot and cold drinks at the appropriate temperature for hours and hours so I thought I might get him one.I looked at YETI brand and was overcome with sticker shock. Those things are extremely expensive so I thought I'd see if I could find a less expensive alternative that still performs well. This Magnum Steel looks very, very similar to my YETI. The YETI tumbler is a little heavier, weighing 14oz without the lid. The Magnum Steel weighs 12.7oz without the lid. Otherwise, the stainless steel is equally well finished - inside and out. The lid is almost identical and fits snugly in the top.The lid is a clear plastic with a small opening for drinking. There are silicone rings around the sides to keep it firmly in place. So I washed it and put an iced drink inside this tumbler and a YETI tumbler. I let them both sit for 6 hours and then checked them. Both still had plenty of unmelted ice and the drink was satisfyingly cold. Next, I filled each with piping hot coffee and again, left them sitting for 6 hours. When I came back, both were still hot, although not straight-out-of-the-coffee-maker hot. Because the lids on both are not insulated and heat rises, they hold cold drinks at temp longer than hot drinks. Basically, they both performed equally well over 6 hours, which is as long as I ever spend drinking a single drink. The cool thing about these tumblers is that even if you have super hot coffee, tea or broth, the exterior is still comfortable to hold. And there is never any condensation on the exterior, even with iced tea in the hottest weather.Like the YETI, Magnum Solace recommends hand washing so don't put this in the dishwasher. But because of the wide mouth, they are easy to wash by hand.If you don't want to pay close to $60 for a YETI, this is a very good quality tumbler that costs less than half! Even $25 is not inexpensive but these are incredibly durable and they perform much better than plastic travel tumblers. It's definitely worth the money.

Well built and quality materials and performs well.
I would not argue that this does not merit a 5 and my only deduction is that it seems to imply that it would keep your drink hot or cold for 24 hours. other text says until the afternoon. However, it will loose its hot or coldness if only because the lid has an opening. You do not feel a change of temp on the outside of the cup except towards the top where it is thinner and I would guess the hot inside must radiate up to where the outside heats up to some extent. The top outside is never hot after filling the cup with hot coffee. It is a solid 5 in terms of what you should expect of a cup constructed this way. It keeps my coffee hot for a few hours and it is still warm well into the afternoon if I do not finish it by then. Given that the cup might be half full I think that is pretty good performance. I doubt this would be the case if I were outside in very cold weather but I am sure it would keep it warm for a decent amount of time. Edit July 4 Well I have used this for a good while now and not sure what I was thinking during my first post because this cup has performed great I have purchased 3 of them at this point. I think it has no real draw backs. and probably will buy one more so I have a spare in case one is dirty or left at work.I love the way it is constructed and it feels solid and substantial. The lid is held in place firmly and so far not a hint of a leak around it. It has not stained after a few weeks of use including leaving coffee in it over night. It is not as big as I thought it would be which is nice because it fits under my company coffee machine. It also fits a cup holder so this could be an every day cup.So I would not hesitate to advise you to buy this cup and probably will buy another one for myself. The only negative is their claims which seem to be a bit on the overly optimistic side. It is a good product but if you are expecting to pour your coffee in it in the AM and have a hot coffee on your ride home you need to look elsewhere and I am not sure even many thermoses would be a success at that. Oh I guess a little bit of a negative is how they put their label on with some glue that is not easy to remove. I used pine oil with not really great success and think that Goo gone would probably work well but not excited on putting that on the cup very close to where you would be putting your mouth.
