Perseverance won out. The part works well.
Arrived quickly. Part was fitted, although it it took a while to persuade it to go in, and that was with the help of an amateur car mechanic. The part / mower now works as it should.

The right part
The product is spot and on for my mountfield SP454. I will say fitting it was quite difficult my mountfield is about 14 years old so if your not technically minded get someone in the know to fit it.

Does what is needed
Made the mistake of thinking I could fit this to my mountfield myself…not a chance! Lol. Unless you know what you are doing, just take it to a professional…you can’t get the cable through the hole without taking it all apart so save some time and get a pro to do it. Cable is perfect though 😂
