For context: I have a very 1st generation PS4 from release that constantly sounded like a jet engine, and eventually started to overheat, flash red, and turn off.What a difference this fan made! From my understanding, the Nidec Fan is the one that you want (the new generation replacement fan). I was slightly intimidated about tearing apart the PS4 because I’m not used to fragile electrical components and such, and you are required to remove every other single component before you can even replace the fan. Despite this, there are plenty of tutorials on the internet and after just under a couple hours (can be done in much quicker than 45 minutes, but I wanted to be careful and get it right first time) my PS4 was back together again!The PS4 is now SILENT. Obviously you must remove all dust and clean the individual components - and remove and replace the thermal paste on top of the CPU to achieve good results - but I was so surprised. Initially the fan kicks in when you start the PS4 up, but once it’s on you can’t hear a thing! Usually when I start up a game, the fan starts spinning like crazy - but I didn’t hear a peep when I started up Battlefront 2 and started playing. I turned it off shortly after, so I can’t comment on noise after hours of playing and allowing the PS4 to build up heat (if it still does!), but my initial impression is very good.The screwdrivers are slightly magnetic and of good quality to use, and the thermal paste was very easy to apply from the syringe. The only thing that could be improved in this amazing package is the addition of some isopropyl alcohol to clean the thermal paste with (it does come with a little alcohol wipe, but maybe they could include a couple more - despite this I personally didn’t have problems removing the old thermal paste), and a little can of compressed air to help clean the components (I used a vacuum and dust removal brush to get rid of 90% of the dust, which has been effective).Very good package, and allowed me to tear apart and rebuild the PS4 in better condition than I bought it (as it is now 100% quieter since I couldn’t even tell that it was on once it was all booted up). Highly recommend for the price. I think others complaining about no noise reduction either didn’t clean their device properly, or used the old delta fan. Make sure you order the Nidec fan - and do the procedure properly!

Having suffered the common PS4 Pro issue of the fan failing to keep up with resource intensive games I opted for this replacement.Easy to fit (with a little help from a YouTube video) and now the console runs silently again with no overheating.

The noise from my launch model PS4 was terrible, too distracting when playing a game and annoying even when spinning slowly in the dash/menu.Followed the guide on ifixit after googling ‘ps4 fan replacement’ - took me straight to the correct guide that tells you exactly which screws are needed to remove for each step, and how NOT to break the blu ray drive cable and reminds you to transfer some pads and foam from the existing fan (a general tear down guide on the same site was lacking in detail).Good quality tools included, usually I end up giving up with the bundled tools as the metal can sometimes be too soft but these worked a treat.Seeing as you’re taking your PS4 apart you may as well replace the thermal pads as well, I went with some from Amazon - 20x20x1 thermal pads - 30 pack, you’ll need 16 pads. The ones in the console are smaller and two of them were torn when I removed the RF shield that they stick to. The replacement pads are bigger and fully cover the RAM chips - not sure if that makes a difference or not.Anyway, console is running great again, noisy rattling fan has been binned now.

My PS4 sounded like a jet taking off, and has done for quite some time. I’d tried numerous things, none of which helped.This kit comes with everything you need, tools, scrapers, alcohol wipes for cleaning off old thermal paste, and new high quality thermal paste.There’s detailed step by step instructions, and lots of very good videos on YouTube to use also. I had no problem, would advice buying a can of air duster too, as the dust makes the PS4 overheat more, and I had lots cramming up little crannys that we’re stopping air flow.10/10, my PS4 is whisper quiet. Get the Nidec fan too, it’s much quieter.

The fan on the lads PS4 was alway running flat-out and it got to the point that it was driving me crazy. I even looked at buying him a new console!! However, thought I would give this kit a go before I forked out £££.Kit arrived and I stripped down his PS4 .... a tip, when you are removing fixings, keep them is stage groups, makes it a lot simpler when you come to rebuild. Clean out all the dust and fluff when you remove parts.Upon removing the CPU heating, the original thermal compound was dry ... the route cause of the fan running flat out. Cleaned the heat plate and cpu very well and reapplied the new compound. Started to rebuild the PS4 and fitted the new fan.Now came the big test! Plugged it in, PS4 booted but no fan .... yes there was fan, but due to the new compound, the cooling was working as it should so the fan was running so slow.Even after a monster gaming session, the fan never gets noisy nor does the PS4 shut down due to heat. This is an excellent upgrade / repair but you must use the heat sink compound.Recommended 100% if you have a hot PS4.

I bought it on the chance it would calm my ps4 down a little. Like many others here I was at my wits with wanting a quieter ps4 and having already cleaned it out of dust and thermal paste I tried this fan which didn't really change much.

Tools and thermal paste are a very useful part of the kit. Fan good quality.On line PS4 slim strip down is easy to follow but everything has to be dismantled in order to replace the fan.

This has brought peace and quiet to my once hellishly noisy PS4. Definitely recommend this (and fresh memory thermal pads) to refurb that on runway sounding console!
