Works as it should!
This is a good product in general. The ceramic blade is sharp and does a good job peeling potatoes and carrots and cucumbers. We've been using this one for 6 months now and there are problems. We keep it in the "utensil" drawer with all the other accumulated kitchen stuff and it's held up just fine. The only possible negative is that if you've got big hands and are peeling small vegetables then it gets tricky. I even managed to nick my finger tip on a small potato ... patience is a virtue here so take your time.I'd buy this again...

This is an excellent kitchen tool
This is an excellent kitchen tool. For peeling large items it's the best. I got my moneys worth just peeling egg plant (I don't like that bitter shin, at all). It's well balanced and the blades are seriously shop, By it's nature, ceramic blades are brittle and you need to be careful, but I find this worth the extra care.

I really liked this when I first got it
I really liked this when I first got it. It's comfortable, does a good job and is really sharp. After a while of having it, the blade chipped a bit which was a bummer. It hasn't chipped so much that it is ineffective, but I don't know of any way to sharpen it or smooth the chips out. I'm sure it is because I store it in a drawer with all my kitchen utensils where it must have gotten banged around, but I don't have anywhere else to put it, so in the drawer it goes. Had I known that ceramic blades would chip when put with other utensils, I might have gotten a more rugged peeler and held off on this one until I have a kitchen with more drawers.

Disappointing Product Quality
The peeler worked fine. The ceramic blade made short work of vegetables like potatoes, carrots, etc. Unfortunately, a little over a year after purchasing the peeler, one of the small plastic pins that secured the blade to the handle broke. The peeler is no longer serviceable. I liked the work the peeler performed. However, unsatisfied with the design and quality of the device.

Works Great (At first)
When they say "mega", they are not kidding! It was quite a bit larger than I expected . But it works great; much faster and easier to use than my old standard peeler.Update: this seems to be somewhat shoddily made; the little side tabs broke off before long, and the head of the peeler now flips around when peeling instead of staying put-annoying.

Made poorly
You would think for 50 dollars the piece would have been made of something more sturdy than plastic.

NOT RECOMMENDED for PUMPKINS!!!
I am a professional pumpkin sculptor and had hoped I had found a fast way of peeling pumpkins. I was told directly by Kyocera to NOT USE this product on pumpkins as the delicate pin that holds the blade in place will break as well as the ceramic blade. I went ahead and put it to the test to see exactly how long it would last. I am great with tools and know that you do not force a tool if it gets stuck. I was able to carve about 10 pumpkins before the pin broke. Funny though, it did not break shaving the skin off but the actual soft big max meat on the inside. My opinion, The blade is super sharp and it won't carve hard pumpkin skins but it will shave thin slices of the meat. It is way too pricey for a replaceable tool as I had mine for 10 pumpkins before the pin broke. The manufacturer warned me and asked me to please not use it for pumpkins or butternut squash or refer it to others. Denise Bernstien in Kyocera's marketing department is right!

Great will buy again
Excellent for peeling all vegetables that I have tried it on. It is very sharp and easy to use, sometimes it is a little wide for the vegetable that I am peeling, but I may buy another one for me and we may buy some for our adult children.

Certainly impressed ... :-)
If, (like me) you are more familiar with the more typical-sized peelers, at first sight this peeler does look rather 'big' ... ;-) Comfortable, (for me) handle and must admit, very impressed so far ... Using this item is actually making, (what was previously considered a chore) almost a pleasure! ... The blade appears incredibly sharp and simply 'glides' over the sometimes tough-skinned large sweet potatoes, that I peel almost daily ... Certainly a 5 star rating at the time of this review and if I remember, I'll update as to how my now favourite peeler has endured after longer use ....

comfortable and easy to peel
having used this peeler for couple weeks, my wife and I like it. First, the oversize design makes the handle comfortable to hold. Second, the ceramic blade is sharp. No body usually sharpen a peeler, so ceramic blade is good due to its sharpness last quite a long time. We use it to peel fruit, carrot, potato, even pumpkin. Peeling is much easier with this one. Highly recommanded for quality cookers.
