Thriller 2: Stories You Just Can't Put Down

This idea by ITW was a great one. You get introduced to names you would never have heard of otherwise, and there are quite a few gems in there. I would strongly recommend to check out the Thriller, Killer, First Thrills, Matchup, Interrogator series. I liked 90% of what I read. A tough feat to be matched.

The book contains a short story from each of 23 authors. Some of these authors I have read before, most I have not read any of their books, but after reading these short stories, I have decided to read some of the authors other books. They are suspenseful, and I enjoyed reading all of them.

Reminded myself again why I've always loved short stories since 7th grade AP English class. This group is fantastic. Not a wimpy story in the bunch. All different, all edge of your seat, can't put it down thrilling. Please keep them coming.

Good entertainment on long road trips. I haven't found the writing to be all that riveting, but then I haven't listened to the whole thing. Road trip coming up.

I was not thrilled by any of the stories collected in this book. I'm sorry I purchased it.

Reviewers should read the entire collection before writing reviews. The reviewer who quit reading after the first story missed some very good writing. As another reviewer noted, the best stories are in the second half of the collection. The collection includes 23 short stories by different authors. As in most collections, you will like some stories more than others. Some of the stories are by newer authors, and it is a good way to sample their writing. Some stories are by authors you will recognize from their earlier writing.I was pleased to find a short story, "A Calculated Risk," by Sean Chercover. He has previously written about a PI in Chicago. In this story he introduces a new character, Tom Bailey, a man with a past he does not talk about who has reinvented himself as a charter boat operator in the Caribbean. Bailey may take you fishing, or for a price he may deliver you quietly to another location. I hope that we may see more of Bailey, who seems to be a mix of Travis McGee and Jack Reacher.The stories can be read in any order. "A Calculated Risk" may be a good starting point.

I was rather disappointed in the stories. Most of them weren't too thrilling as I figured out the ending by half way through. I think Mystery Writers of American does a better job of picking Short Stories. It wasn't an endurance to get through but rather a disappointment as I was expecting more.

Yup, it's great for the bathroom! 23 short stories of varying quality that can be read while relaxing in a place that no one will bother you. Some of the stories are terrific, like Gary Braver's roman-a-clef, while others simply aren't that appealing. Of course, what appeals to me in a thriller may not appeal to you, so the beauty of this collection is that there's a smorgasbord of stories and authors to entertain you.

I looked forward to these "thrilling" stories and was very disappointed. The fast forward button was smoking!!! Yawn yawn..boring long winded mush...people with silly names and irritating readers accents and characters that were unbelivable and so dull. I must have skipped through most of the stories and now have two discs left and I am not holding my breath.

I have read most of Clive Cussler's novels, so I could not wait to read stories from the authors he liked. I have to show my overall disappointment, and mention that I did put the book down mid-story several times. However I have to say that there are some good stories in the book that kept my attention.

Some of the stories are below par, but it's OK for bedtime reading.

I liked this book of crimes a lot and the stories are also very good .so I hope there will be a number three of Thriller very soon.....
