Great activity for kids!
The media could not be loaded. Needed an activity for the kid I babysit, he’s 3 years old. Probably better for a bit older kids but he did great at it. It’s a great activity but the children need to be patient while doing this. You need to soak the soil pods for 30 minutes each side as well as 30 minutes for the seeds. I just let him decorate the container and play a bit before the timer went off. It’s very messy so I suggest doing it outside or putting down newspaper or a towel for easy clean up. The container or “root viewer” came broken on the side but luckily it was at the top where it didn’t matter as much.I was shocked to see the seeds sprout a week later. The pictures posted are of the seeds exactly a week later. I’m not sure how the parents were taking care of it but I watered it twice in the week and let it sit outside for the two days. I paired the activity with a book about planting/farming. He loved this activity! He also loved being able to watch it grow!

Garbage quality
The bottom grates were broken upon arrival. The container also leaks HORRIBLY. There are two separate sets of directions. The seeds all came in one packet mixed together so it was a pain to separate them especially after soaking them like it tells you to. Most of the seeds were also floaters, so they likely won’t even sprout. Also, if you follow the directions this fun little project includes waiting for over an hour - definitely not something I recommend for little kids. Absolutely garbage quality all around. Would not purchase again, is not giftable, horrible value for the money. You’d be better off using an old fish tank or terrarium and buying better quality seeds and dirt that doesn’t take an hour to prepare and will actually fill the entire container.

Seeds were included but missing from Package
Im only giving this 4 stars, i would give 5 stars but, see this was a gift. But when the box was opened it was missing the seeds. It says on the box that the seeds are supposed to be included. So my child was unable to grow anything without seeds. She likes this grow kit but was disappointed when the seeds were missing.

No seeds sprouted
I really like the idea of this to help littles learn about plants, but none of our seeds sprouted!

Clear directions for children.
This kit came with all materials, and clear written instructions for planting vegetable seeds for observation. It was easy to follow (see picture), and an eight year old would be able to do this independently. The price is comparable to other children’s STEAM kits (e.g. Kiwi crates) and would make a great gift or a fun learning activity over a school break.

Difficult to use poor results
Not something young kids could do on their own.Could not get bottom tray off to drain excess water had to tip the whole thing over sideways to drain water on bottom. Kept paper towels under it so water did not go everywhere.Water very slow trickle.Seeds started sprouting after 2 days but grew really fast tall thin stems that were weak and went flat no matter how slow or gentle I tried to water. Leaves are starting to turn yellow now.Started getting what looks like white mold? Growing on surface.Seeds are extremely tiny hard to seperate and spread out.Seed growth seems to have slowed but still go flat against surface when try to water no matter how slow a trickle.Made sure they had plenty of light and drained the water from bottom every day.Kids were disappointed
