Anyone serious about radar engineering should own one of the editions of this book. I would recommend skipping the "Introduction to RADAR systems" text and going straight for this one if at all possible.

Great book, but it tends to leave you just short of being very applicable. Use it as a concept understanding reference only.

Good book, bad look
Love the book, BUT mine came with damage. It looks like someone keyed a rectangle onto the book repeatedly... otherwise there are some lighter scratches on the outside. Inside has never even been opened though. Book itself is great, box opening condition was not great.

Unique and invaluable reference
This is the third copy I've owned, one of each edition. It gets frequent use. When I have an analysis issue involving radar it ts the first place I turn, and frequently the last. I wonder whether there will be a fourth edition now that Merrill is in his 90s; we can hope.

Is Volume 3 worth it?
If you are a Radar engineer, then you already have one or more versions of this book on your shelf. I can't imagine doing my job without it. The question becomes whether or not you should go through the trouble of asking your company to buy it for you or just use the volume you have. I think most of the chapters are the same but I know that Chapter 8, Pulse Compression Radar, has been upgraded. Ducoff's description of stretch processing is concise and relevant to modern Radars. I convinced my company to buy it based on that reason alone.

Strange binding issue...
First time I've ever received a book with a backwards (upside down) binder. It was rather confusing to open the cover to the upside-down back of the book.

レーダの基本
この本は、歴代3代目のRADAR HANDBOOKです。表紙が初代黒、二代赤、三代青です。基本は変わらないが初代はSTALOの相関効果が記載、2代目はMTIによるSTALOの積分にてクラッタ抑圧を説明。という如く3代目も同じでハードウェアの制約を記述しています。ハードウェアの制約によりソフトウェア処理が理想から外れていきます。この本で電卓叩いて設計する事が出来れば概ねレーダハードのシステム設計は可能です。ちょっと足りないなと思うのは、最近のダイレクトコンバージョン方式、DBFレーダやSLCの様な適応アンテナ技術に対するハード制約、追尾レーダの記述、レーダによるECM技術です。しかし、この本を全て記憶する事も厳しくいつも傍に無いと困ります。絶対に必要な本です。

非常にタイムリに入手でき、いそいで調べようとした項目が見つかり役に立った。次に新しいバージョン(EDITION)が発刊されたときは連絡ほしい。
