Amazing Taste - Same quality proven recipe as 30 years ago
I finally found a decent price for this pate and ordered enough to get free shipping (I also got the Rillette from the same trusted Henaff brand). The moment I opened one can, the smell, the taste brought me 30 years back, in France, when I last had Pate Henaff. I can attest, as someone who's eaten enough of these in my youth, that the recipe and quality have not changed (since 1907 as claimed on the box). Even the box is about the same (except they used to have a reclosable lid rather than the "pull-out" cover). It's a bit pricy imported to the US but it's a French delicacy. Almost as cliche as a baguette and a beret.About Pate Henaff - The pate itself is delicious but it's the combination with the thin layer of gelatine and thin layer of fat on a slice of bread that makes the taste unforgetable. I rarely write reviews, let alone of food, but hey this is Pate Henaff. Enough said.

There is a reason the French love this pate
This is an everyday pate, and it is delicious. I have read reviews complaining that it is not like the pate people have had in expensive restaurants, but anyone buying a can of pate is buying a can of pate. This is very good stuff. I like it smeared on some good, crusty bread.

French pork pate
I like this pate, it is very good, but in that same brand I prefer the rillettes, nevertheless the pate is different and good, definitely will buy it again.

First time trying this brand and variety.
I picked up the sampler pack of this item off of Amazon. I put that shipment into the fridge as the cans had arrived dented, due to packaging, so this review is based on product cold from the fridge, not room temperature from the pantry.First thing I noticed was the fat, this is to be expected if you read the label for the nutrition details. The smell was pleasant. I used a fork and flaked some up, putting it on pilot crackers. First bite did not impress me with much flavor.I then noticed the gel around the product and tasted that, found some of the flavor I had been expecting. Taking more product out of the tin, including the gel, putting it into a small bowl/dish and combining the 2. Put some more on a pilot cracker (also available through this outlet, no salt on outside of cracker or added flavors, much like a sturdy water cracker). This bite tasted more like the flavor I was anticipating from the smell of the product. No liver in this style of the product, not a liver based pâté. May order again after I finish the other varieties in the sampler pack.Might have a less neutral opinion once I try product at room temperature, can imagine using on a picnic, with wine, fruit and cheese, or on appetizers for a small gathering.

Not pate
I am french. Have eaten pate my whole life. Pate should spread easily at room temperature. This does not spread and is more like spam or some awful tasting chopped meat in a can complete with pork jelly surrounding it. Would not ever purchase again.

Finally --- a delicious French Pate!
This pate gives you all the quality and aromatic taste that you would experience in France and in Europe! And if you grew up with this kind of quality, it brings back all the nostalgia of the good old days-- when charcutiers and artisans made their products with care, real knowledge and integrity!

Overpriced for substandard quality
Very greasy, tasteless, substandard quality. Overconditioned. Don’t waste your money, buy something fresh. Item is non returnable.
