A Great Book to Go with Kendall Hunt's Pathways Theme book "We All Went on Safari"
We All Went On SafariThis book makes a wonderful addition to the bibliography books listed for Pathways first grade-theme six book, "We All Went on Safari". The large print and detailed photographs make it easy for students to use as a resource for reports. It is also a great read-aloud for the unit.

Springboard for further Investigation
A Savanna Habitat is a well-written book for young readers, giving a wide perspective of the African Savanna.Photographs are exceptionally beautiful, capturing the awe and magic of the savanna. It is definitely a springboard for further investigation. I would like to have seen more about where the animals live. The only "home" described was the meerkats' burrows. Are all of the rest of the animals nomadic? That would have been a helpful tidbit, and would not cost too many words. The book also just dropped the reader as if there should have been more pages to the end. But all in all, it is a fitting book to add to the collection of other Habitat introductions by Bobbie Kalman.

Interesting
This would be perfect for a second grade library- doesn't hit the target I'd hoped for early childhood. Looking for a way for young children to understand habitats, yet this wordy book becomes a collection of pictures where the teacher has some improv... need to keep looking sadly.
