Does what it needs to, but VERY difficult to snap on.
Fair warning. Once you have separated the plamp "ball and sockets" it is VERY difficulty to snap them back together. There is good instructions which recommend soaking in near boiling water. I had to do that and it was much easier to snap them. If you have arthritis or some other ailment that deters you from opening jars, driving screws, etc. assembling the plamp back together with the extension may be very difficult for you to do. Other than that the extension seems fine.

Good as an extension or to replace damaged links
Ordered so that I could replace a few links that melted when my Plamp II had an unfortunate encounter with a halogen lamp.

Cheapest Way Toward Photo Set-up
I have 4 Plamps that I use for studio orchid photography. They hold/do everything I need them to do.

An excellent third hand to improve the functionality of holding plants for macro photography.
Excellent addition for my macro flower photography. Hint! Heat up the part in hot water for about 30 seconds so it expands. It will be easier to snap the flexible extension into the expanded warmer piece.

Extra reach
Added the right amount of reach to get the subject far enough away with my gear. Very nice addition, I have 2 Plamps, one original length and then the other with additional and this is really a killer combo for my macro work.
