Stroopwafels Casteleijn

I had never heard of these until I discovered them one day on a reddit thread, but these are literally the most delicious cookies I've ever eaten. The first bite and I was hooked. The caramel center remains soft and delightful even without warming over your favorite hot beverage and the cookie is subdued enough that I could eat a whole bag without a second thought. Cannot recommend these highly enough.

Traveled to the Netherlands, ate the weird looking waffle, literally jumped up out of my seat in excitement because I found my new favorite desert. Now I buy them for my friends and family whenever I can...for any occasion.The tradition is to set it on top of your steaming cup of tea or coffee so the caramel melts and it is warm and gooey.I suspect hot chocolate would be excellent as well.

These are disappointing. They appear to be two layers, stuck together with a sugary, cinnamon carmel, layer. They are soft, and not crispy at all and definitely not the thinner, crispy Belgian Waffle Cookie that is made usually around Christmas. They look right but this Dutch version is a far cry from what I wanted.

These are very delicious. They taste best when you heat them up a little so that it can be moist and the caramel oozing out. I have had these from the Netherlands and I have to say that these stroofwafels are are special treat. The pack was done within hours. I will be buying these again. They are very addictive.

They were okay. Just okay. Not like I remembered the Dutch siroop waffles being, many years ago. The filling inside was very sugary and grainy, not smooth and drippy, like they used to be. Maybe they got overheated or too cold in shipping and handling. Probably won’t buy again. ☹️

I bought these for my kids to try when we studied the Netherlands in our homeschool. We thought they were fresh tasting, nice and chewy, and caramel-y and buttery. They were quite a treat, but I took away one star because I totally thought they would be way bigger! These are only about 4in in diameter and the whole package (minus the top part of the bag above the twist) is about the size of a softball. I don't know why but I pictured each stroopwafel being the size of at least my hand, or maybe a smallish dinner plate. Had I known, I would not have spent $10 on this small package. Oh well, live and learn.

They were stale and crumbly upon arrival; it might just be that I got a bad bag, but when heated over my coffee they didn't perk up at all, thus remaining undesirable : /

Just learned of these delightful sweets and thrilled to find they are better than imagined! Thanks to our Dutch ancestors for this fine tradition--I even bought a stroopwafel waffle iron!!!
