Dirty Mary Crazy Larry / Race With The Devil (Double Feature)

This film directed by John Hough is a cult film of the road crime genre. I was looking for it in my country even in "pirate" copies without success. Finally, I got it from Amazon, and yes, it worth the money this video piece with Peter Fonda.

I purchased this movie because I vaguely remembered seeing it in my youth, late 70's - early 80's. I remembered liking it and I never saw it on television ever again. Well, I now own it and I can now watch it whenever I want. This is definitely one of the best car chase movies ever made, but some could and would justifiably argue that this IS the best car chase movie of all time ⏲️. Peter Fonda and Susan George hit it out of the park with this one. It's a classic and for good reason. The ending was a shock the first time I saw it and I was surprised that I remembered it correctly after not seeing this movie for over forty years, but it's one that you have to see for yourself. The second movie, Race With The Devil, was actually pretty good. I had never seen or heard of it before, but I found it entertaining as the second part of the double feature. Excellent purchase. I highly recommend this double feature if you are a fan of car chase movies 🎬. Dirty Mary, Crazy Larry is a classic and a must see. You won't regret it.

Zwei Filme, die Peter Fonda in den 70ern für Fox gemacht hat. Beides sind B-Movies aus dem Carsploitation-Genre. Ganz ordentlich gemacht aber nicht sonderlich spektakulär. "Dirty Mary, Crazy Larry" ist ein kleiner Klassiker, was wohl daran liegt, dass er trotz abenteuerlicher Verfolgungsjagd mehr der Realität verhaftet ist und auch seinen Figuren etwas Raum zur Entfaltung gibt. "Race with the Devil" hingegen versucht die Geschichte mit Horror-Elementen aufzupeppen, versagt aber bei der Atmosphäre und legt weniger Wert auf seine Schauspieler als auf die eher banale Action.Der Transfer beider Filme ist gelungen, Bild und Ton merkt man die Zeit nicht an, angesichts des Ausgangsmaterial kann man sie als optimal bezeichnen. Beide DVD sind RC 1, man braucht also einen entsprechenden Player bzw. die geeignete Software am PC, und natürlich ist die Sprache nur englisch. Zu beiden Filmen gibt es kurze Interviews mit Peter Fonda.Auch wenn die Streifen zu ihrer Entstehungszeit ganz nette Summen eingespielt haben, sind es keine Meilensteine des Kinos, sondern schlichtweg nettes Augenfutter für Nostalgiker.
