Sometimes you just want 'junk food'
I went into this book not knowing what to think, this is the first one I have read by this author duo....so was a bit hesitant. After reading? Wow.... ok, not what I expected but not in a bad way, in fact I went and made a new list on amazon, for books I need to buy in physical even if I have the kindle because I want them on my shelf NOW. (and I wonder if the authors will ever sell a signed copy?)Pros -A different take on Wonderland that brings a breath of fresh air to the mix -A smut with plot book, more plot then smut, so a good read -Shadow is just amazing, the inner working of his mind, how he interacts with characters and the world, make it worth the read -There aren't huge 'info dumps' here making the story flow, and you learn as you go (this is also in the negative sadly) -The CW is nice to have, as a way to warn people. But I also like that nothing goes too far, anything truly bad happening, does get stopped before it passes that point, making it a safer read for those looking into some of the content warnings.Cons -Book dumps you into the action, which isn't bad, but with a lack of info dump, you feel off balanced and stumble trying to make sense of the rules of the world this author built (example, aliens are a thing) -Some of the characters' stories aren't really fleshed out, leaving a 'wait why do they do that? who are they?' feel (Example, How Shadow GOT that way, how can he do those things when others can't?) -Ending does have a slight 'rushed feel' but not enough to be annoying, its more jarring because (redacted no spoilers) happens and feels off balance from the rest, again maybe compounded by the lack of explaining the world. -(more of an AMAZON fail) the content warning, is nice to have for people that need those warnings, but needing to find the author's page and find the book, is a bit annoying. For ease, I am not sure why it isn't on the Amazon listing? But I wonder if its a regulation that Amazon has.TL:DR-a surprising find in a sea of mediocre books, this junk food read is JUST what you need sometimes, it can't all be fine dining. Go on and try it, just make sure to check CW page on author's website to make sure its safe for you.

Loved it
I love everything Alice in Wonderland themed, and this one did not disappoint. It had enough differences to be a unique take/twist on the story, but still enough similar to spark curiosity. Plus, it was steamy. I have to say the fur part wasn't my personal kink, but personality wise Shadow was amazing. The escaping part and after weren't what I was expecting but I rather enjoyed it. Overall, a fun read.

love love love
This has to be one of my fave wonderland versions ever. Shadow aka Cheshire cat, was a fantastic character. the premise was amazing too. all scifi, and insanely odd in a very wonderland kind of way. It's a rereader for sure!

I want a Shadow
Let me begin by saying that I have loved every Tiffany Roberts book that I have read and that definitely includes this one! First off, the cover is fantastic and grabbed my attention immediately, I actually found myself going back to look at it throughout reading the book. I was honestly a little unsure of an Alice in Wonderland retelling but this book was absolutely wonderful! Now lets get to the good stuff...Shadow, I absolutely adored him!! Having the Cheshire Cat as the hero made me so flipping happy. Love, love, love! This book reminded me of the movie Sucker Punch except WAY better. ( I hated that freaking movie )

It’s…okay
The prose itself is good, and it’s very difficult to write good sex scenes, so bonus points there.I just…The characters feel lacking in dimension and depth. Okay, so yeah, books like this are basically porn, and how much characterization do you need for that? But I do. I need to feel like these are two complete people having sex, or else I could just as easily go watch some porn.

Outstanding clever retelling
Escaping Wonderland by Tiffany Roberts was a total trip!Fairytale retellings are probably one of my favourite things to read, because I love seeing what an author adapts from the original fairytale to create something new. What Tiffany Roberts achieved here was SO clever! I was hooked from the start, and I genuinely didn’t know where it was going to take me.The hero in this book was Shadow, an adaption of the Cheshire Cat and I loved everything about him. He was so entertaining, and endearing to read.. and I was so curious the more I read to get to know his story.I felt like I fell into Wonderland alongside Alice travelling in this world they created, spotting characters along the way.I loved this book so much! The story, the characters, the chemistry between Shadow and Alice.. and by the time the ending came round.. I had to stay up through the night to make sure they came out on top.

“I’ve met a lot of crazy people in my time, Alice, but you may be the maddest of all.”
Honestly... Wow! Just wow.I was so excited to get my hands on Escaping Wonderland and I was not disappointed at all. This tale took a different turn to what we are used to with the world of wonderland, I was very very happy with how it worked out.“I’ve met a lot of crazy people in my time, Alice, but you may be the maddest of all.”Alice, who is strong spirited and tossed into the wild world of Wonderland but kept her wits about her even in the darkest moments she held strong especially with Shadow who was protective of his Sweet Alice. *Better not touch his Alice or you'll lose a hand*‘Whether you believe or not, I will keep you safe, Alice’.Be prepared to fall down the rabbit hole of adventure, emotions and escape. You'll feel everything on a rollercoaster of emotions but don't forget to breathe through out because not all hope is lost as long as Alice & Shadow stick together we know they can face anything especially the Red King.Best read on my TBR list for 2022 and will definitely be a reread in the coming weeks, I've found my comfort book!To the authors: Tiffany & Robert you did an amazing job especially with Shadow and Alice. The twist of the Red king and The Mad Hatter was awesome and had me raving in my own little reading bubble about the unexpected. I couldn't put it down which is also why I purchased a physical copy as well. The cover art is hands down beautiful.
