Roan Sinclair. Poor baby! 🥺 If it wasn’t for back luck he’d have no luck at all! This is book one of a duet but there is no cliffhanger. I haven’t read book two yet but as soon as this review is done I’m jumping back in! If you have any triggers at all please check them out because there are some dark situations in this story 🫣Sasha..Lordy Lordy he’s been through some serious stuff it seems! The author doesn’t go into specifics about his life but you get enough to maybe understand why he is the way he is. There is nothing fluffy about this book at all so I enjoyed the h€ll out of it! 😁 The only drawback for me was Frankie. This is just something I personally don’t like and nothing against the author but I couldn’t stand Frankie. She is the loud, irritating and obnoxious “bestie” 😒 I have dnr’d books before because of a character like this but I was able to get past it 🤪 If you like the kidnapper/captive trope, intense situations and a tall, dark and scary mc then get to readin’ 😁

Don’t read if you can’t handle violence or implied (more than implied but not overly explicitly discussed) dark topics!I really liked the action in this book. I think it was the most mafia mafia book I’ve ever read. Sasha is a bad ass. Roan is pretty cool, if not disconnected from real life and clueless when it comes to his own well being.I thought their romance could have used a little more development given Sasha’s strict background. I like their vibe in the third act when stuff hit the fan though.

I didn’t care if I went straight to Hell. Roan was the first good thing in my life and I wasn’t going to give him up.….Man, talk about obsessed!! This story boils down at its basis to a “captive/kidnapper” falling in love scenario, but it’s SO much more that that! Roan is a little ray of sunshine guy who has dreams of his own that don’t include his successful and negligent banker father’s plans for him. When a plan that Sasha’s boss has to rob the bank in search of a key goes awry, the plan changes to a kidnap and ransom scenario. Little does Roan know that this is the Russian mafia he is dealing with and his father is too selfish to truly care about anyone but himself.Enters Sasha’s attraction to Roan and vice-versa, the two just can’t seem to stay away from each other. Fire and ice because they are complete opposite who attract and merge on a deep emotional level. While Sasha lives in fear over the fantasies and immoral thoughts about Roan that he allows to become his truth, Roan never loses that but of hope and sunshine, holding onto it enough for the both of them. Once Roan discovers his father had no true intentions of rescuing him, the story becomes more complex than that of a simple “kidnapper/captive” scenario and you have to see to believe what happens next! Highly recommend this dark MM romance if this is your cup of tea, definitely worth the read!

💙 Review/ 5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 💙This book started off with a bang and most definitely ended with a bang... while keeping you on the edge of your seat throughout!I'm a sucker for the grumpy/sunshine theme where the more "easy going" person breaks down the walls of the "grump". You get that here ten fold with Roan pushing Sasha in so many different ways (as Sasha has so much inner turmoil that he struggles with) ... then when you start to see those walls cracking and crumbling down you're like YES and your heart melts and then you can't help falling for the not so nice guy even when you know you shouldn't. Plus the banter between the two mc's and their own inner dialogue which is equal parts sad, frustrating, and yes hilarious at times too cemented my love for this couple and their story.If you like your stories fast paced with alot of angst, action/suspense, murder/mayhem, and with some well deserved payback revenge (an absolute must have) then I highly recommend.I can't wait for the 2nd part of the story and I hope we get to see Roan's dad suffer some consequences that he so desperately deserves.Since there are many triggers in this story that I can't possible name, I'm going to copy/paste the author's content warning from the blurb on Goodreads below ⬇️.
