I'm a school librarian and my favorite barcode scanner has been on its last leg for the past few years. I knew I needed a replacement but every time I got a new scanner (gun style), they would die within a few weeks or months or weren't easy to use.So far (knock on wood), this little handsfree scanner is working great. I just pass the barcode in front of it and it picks it up more easily than my past scanner. The factor settings has the beep VERY loud, but the instructions has barcodes to change the settings and it's much better now. The only time I've had a little trouble with it is if I have to pick it up and scan something (instead of bringing the item to the scanner). About 10% of the time, it has a hard time scanning it in that situation. To me, that's still a good scanner, especially since it wasn't meant to be picked up to scan something.
