NEW 24x USB external CD-ROM CDROM drive for Acer Aspire One, BLACK

When I got it today, I hooked it up with only one of the USB plugs and it didn't work. DUH! lol I'm not technically inclined. I tried it on two different Acer One Netbooks, one with XP and my newer one with Windows 7, then figured you had to use both things. It worked! Windows recognized it and I didn't have to do anything else! Got my games loaded on my netbooks and a couple other programs I wanted on them.This is small enough to carry in my netbook bag when I go somewhere too, so that is a definite plus. Really worth the price they charge for it.Love it!

I wanted something inexpensive to load programs in my new Toshiba Satellite notebook. The Acer Aspire 24x speed CD USB external drive arrived quickly and turned out to be a very good buy. I plugged up both USB cords and it worked without any issues loading programs amazingly fast. However, the next time I plugged it up the computer didn't recognize the drive. Swapping ports solved the problem. I loaded in the software which appeared to correct the driver issue. I should have spent the extra money for an external burner to make system back up discs. This product also worked without using the USB power cord.Chaz CAurora, MO

I have a small Acer netbook which is compact and great to carry around at only a few pounds. To attain that size and weight it unfortunately doesn't have a CD drive to enter new programs onto the computer. Staples and other office stores only carried the expensive $80 range CD/DVD/writable, etc. - much more than I need just to put in a program. This small, efficient CD drive was just plug and play easy. And all of this for under $10.!!! Unbelievable! The shipping charge was almost more than the CD drive - still a great deal. What a buy! Good quality and came with all the needed cables. I can't be happier with my purchase.

Plugged it in, and it made the noise like it was trying to load the mini cd that came with it, but my laptop didn't recognize that it was there and so it was COMPLETELY USELESS! Haven't tried it with another computer because the other one in the house already has a cd drive. I REALLY regret paying so much for next-day shipping because it was cheap enough I can sell it at a garage sale and make most of the money back other than the shipping.

Don't buy this, go somewhere else. I mean it. Leave this page and search again. The "product" is cheap, by every meaning of the word. I have it connected to my Acer (which is brand-spankin new), connected to power, and there is a disc in it. Nothing is happening. Unless you count a blinking green light as something. If you need a blinking rectangle, go ahead, click 'add to cart', but it will be just as useful as the box it came in. (less so actually, the box is a good cord storage for my cell phone charger with room to spare for a granola bar for later!) It worked the first day I tried it, when I loaded the programs I bought the infernal polygon for, (thank FSM), but since it won't play DVD's, it won't play my fav' CD's, will not, would not, with a fox, it's just a frickin' blinking box.

It did not work at all. I even paid $10 for an extended USB power cord (or whatever you call it) so it can plug directly into the wall outlet instead for more power, which the instructions suggested if not working smoothly, and it still didn't wortk. To make sure that it was not the new DVD that I just bought, I took it back to the store and they ran a test on the disk and it worked fine. For some reason I received a second USB external CD-Rom Acer Aspire One, Black, from Amazon. I never requested another one and as soon as I have time I'm sending them both back. I had already lost a lot of time before I received the second one, so I had purchased a new external CD-Rom from a nearby office supply store. I caught a sale but it still cost $56 dollars, but it worked right away.

I purchased this item in December of 2009 and it has never worked on ANY computer. I bought my wife an ASPIRE One netbook for Chirstmas last year and remembered that this CD ROM is supposed to work with it as well. Dug it back out of the drawer of useless items and tried it on the ACER and it won't work there either. As one other reviewer said...You get what you paid for...Lesson Learned. The review program forced me to list at least one star for the item..however, it doesn't deserve it.
