My all around go to glass
It's made of a special material, not crystal, not regular glass. It's borosilicate glass, much tougher than regular glass or crystal, and lighter as well.I warm my coffee up in the microwave, & the coffee gets warm, not the cup. I like that. It's my go-to cup. Pour in some boiling hot soup on a cold day. It won't shatter like glass and it won't get as hot as glass. Like Pyrex at 20% of the weight. Just feels good in my hand. But maybe that's just me.

Perfect for my use
I bought this specifically to melt butters and oils for lip balm. I love that i can melt them in this and it has a pour spout to pour directly into the lip balm tubes.

A true 500 mL with head space
Standard Griffin (low form) beaker with a flared top, the top bead was a good size, not too large. Just the sort I like to use.

Lightweight and Practical
I was so pleased to find a scientific beaker with a handle to use as a teacup. After having shoulder surgery, I found my usual ceramic teacup too heavy to hold. This is much lighter and I love the fact that it's a piece of science apparatus. I'm having fun with it...and able to enjoy my morning cuppa without causing myself pain by lifting something too heavy for me at the present time.

Saves me money
Now I can boil water for my coffee in the microwave faster. Less time in the mirowave equals less cost of energy.

Excellent for frothing milk
Nice beaker just the right size for a single latte or 2 cappuccinos. Good quality glass and handy handle that doesn’t get hot in the microwave.

the glass is so thin light falls over, can't use it to melt butters in double boiler for skin care
While its ok to use if you are just using it to measure liquids, but I wanted to use it on the wire rack inside a pot with water, to make it a double boiler to melt shea and other butters for face balms. The glass is so light that it keeps falling over. I solved the problem by getting a heavy large glass measuring cup.
