Artists...purchase away!
As a comc artist, I wanted to tighten up my pieces by utilizing a light box more often. I had one but it had a small surface (8x12) and was extremely thick (3 inches) so it was very cumbersome and prevented me from drawing with my natural posture. So, I looked up possible upgrades and found the Huion board. I was skeptical of the quality of this box. Sure, it was still expensive, but it was a great deal cheaper than other light boxes, so as I usually do (and what I'm sure money-gouging companies WANT most consumers to do), I thought to myself, "what's wrong with it? It's so much cheaper." However, I took a chance and picked it up.PROS: I can't believe the quality of this thing, it is one of the best art-related purchases I have ever made. It's so thin, evenly lit and allows you plenty of room to concentrate on the art instead of the form factor of the box and making sure you stay on it. My pencil art has never been cleaner. The form factor allows me to work at a speed that my previous light box wouldn't allow.CONS: 1) I thought people were exaggerating on the short length of the cord...but they AREN'T. My art desk is literally in the corner against two walls with an outlet a standard length from the floor, straight down from the right edge of the table and the chord barely reaches the outlet. Unless you have a set up like mine or are drawing on a desk with an outlet literally on top of it chances are you'll need an extension cord. Easy fix though, but still.2) The touch sensitivity of the power switch is extremely sensitive for a device that chances are many artists will hover over when using. I accidentally turn off the box at least two times per drawing session by accident with an errant elbow or hand. It's not a big hassle, but this is an instance where an actual button probably would work better. However, if the touch-sensitive switch is what enables this thing to be so thin, it's an acceptable trade-off.BOTTOM LINE: I don't write reviews for mediocre products, only ones that I am completely enamored with or ones that I am utterly disappointed with. This is the former. Don't let my cons derail you, this is one of the best devices at the best prices you can get. I have no regrets in my decision to buy, so much so that moments ago I just ordered literally the 8x12 version so I can have one to travel with.Huion, you made a believer out of me!

Really nice desktop size light box
I use this Light Box as a help when I'm drawing, mostly for final composition prior to transfer to final working surface (paper or canvas). This is lightweight, easy to slip away under my drawing table and retrieve when needed. I leave access to the plug taped to the side leg of my desk so it's easy to store and not lose my cord. The brightness control is very nice and gets just bright enough for my needs. A great surface size too. It appears very sturdy and has been useful so far.

Best Ever!
Now this is a gem of heaven initially bought for a 5D diamond project i have been dabbling in, PERFECT. After I had compared to friends & return another for appeared to be very flimsy. I went off to look into the real deal. I am an artist/designer & found this to be a high rated box online for my ultimate hobbies. I checked the quality for light in my paper & fabrics too... EXCELLENT! It is sturdy, lights my work space, doesn’t hurt my eyes, seems like it is made with a clear plexiglass (u would want to cut on but I wouldnt think of doing that). I work on for 5+ hours sitting on my lap feel little warm but not uncomfortable. Yes, I paid a tad more (not much) without silly frills of extra bead boxes, etc which only says to me a product lacks in quality if it gives you all that unnecessary blahhh. Now I’m in need for a case :)

Looking For A Nice Big Lightbox For Cheap? Look No Further!
I was very skeptical about this box because I had never heard of the Huion company before. A quick check of their website shows that it's pretty bare bones and not much flash. I had been looking for a nice big lightbox for a while, but many of the options that I found were running almost $200 for a size smaller than this. The product itself is also bare bones. You get the pad and the power box and that's it, which is fine as that's all you really need. It has an acrylic surface and it feels like it can be scratched easily, so I would take care of where you store this when not in use.It works great! It gets pretty bright, bright enough that I can see through a sheet of 100 lb. bristol board and a 60 lb. sketching sheet at the same time (not crystal clear, but good enough to do an accurate reproduction with). The brightness is controlled by the power button. When you first turn it on you can hold the power button down to stop the light at a certain level of brightness (if you just keep holding it down, it will go until it reaches its max brightness and then stop there). The brightness can then be adjusted if desired through holding the power button again to drop to a lower level of brightness if at the max. Tapping it once will automatically shut it down.My only gripe about the power button is the placement. On multiple occasions I found myself accidentally grazing it with the side of my hand and shutting the whole thing off. A minor nuisance, but not a substantial knock against the product. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because I wish it would've had some kind of legs or something to elevate it up at an angle (I use three rubber door stops as the angling on them is perfect for this). All in all, you won't go wrong with this product. They sell it in different sizes, so I'd recommend going with the largest that you'll think you'll ever need (you can always use smaller paper on a big pad, but not bigger paper on a small pad). I'm very pleased with it thus far.
