Stubble and Goatee Softener, 3 Count

I read about it in Men's Journal and Esquire and was SO looking forward to this as my better half keeps complaining that my stubble is hard on her skin. When we got it, there were only 2-3 reviews here on Amazon, all were positive, and all seemed to be written by women, which to me, was impressive. So we got this (after some hesitation about wheeling out about $15 for facial sandpaper).I ripped the box open to try it as soon as it arrived. The first time, I didn't read the instructions well enough, rubbed too hard and my skin felt really raw minutes after.2 days and lots of moisturizer later, I was ready to try it again. read the instructions several times (rub gently in circular motion for 30secs or a little more if you have a tougher beard). I did. I was both slow and gentle, making sure to not to let the board touch my skin at all. I rubbed for about a minute or so, but not only did my stubble not feel any different, my skin still felt raw after! Maybe it's just me, but this was a lemon, and I can't return it because, of course, they have to be returned in perfect condition.

This product is just ok. I can't really tell too much of a difference before and after. The wife says I am still scratchy. Maybe my facial hair is just too coarse. I really wanted this to work. In all fairness, maybe it takes many uses to refine and smooth out the hair. Who knows. I don't think I would purchase again.

I have had this for some time now. I bought it not knowing what to expect because the reviews are all over the place but for 12 bucks I had to give it a try. Truthfully, I didn’t use it right at first few times not following the instructions. But my girlfriend kept pressing to use the thing so I found out what to do! DON’T PUSH HARD actually you need no pressure at all. OK here is what happened with my girlfriend a few nights ago and I will try and keep it PG-13. We had date night and when we got home it was time for me to do my “good boyfriend duty”. Within 2 seconds she stopped me! I was busted, I hadn’t used it “Goated” after trimming my beard earlier that night. She sent me to the bathroom to soften it up. She knew immediately! If that isn’t proof it works I don’t know what is ;)

it works, but at the cost of destroying the skin on your face. My face burned terribly and was irritated for two days. I was super gentle and my skin was still extremely irritated. Go buy sandpaper from your local hardware store, it's the same thing and costs less than half the price of this junk.

Softens the stubble just as advertised, and each pad lasts more than one use, which is nice for frequent groomers.A warning, though: if you don't have thick facial hair, or you think it may be too short to use the softener, then it will irritate your skin and leave it red and stinging for about an hour. Make sure you wait till the hair is thick or long enough to use this.

I'm not one to complain or write negative reviews in fact I'm usually always at least partially satisfied with the things I buy online. However The Soft Goat was one of my most disappointing purchases I've made in a long time. I like the concept/design and thought that these softener pads would work, however after thoroughly following the instructions and trying different methods (mostly how long I rubbed the soft goat against different parts of my thick/stubborn beard), I was very disappointed. My beard felt REALLY weird to the touch... it's really hard to describe how it felt (kind of sticky in a way even after a thorough wash) but the important thing was that it didn't get any thinner. It just felt way worse to touch with your hands is basically the only difference. I actually HATE the way my beard feels after I use these. I'm sure these softener pads have a different effect depending on how thick your hair is... but if you have extra thick dark facial hair that's only a cm long at most, I don't recommend using this product.

this is basically 3 sand paper pads. it didn't work for full my grown beard and mustache hair but I think it would work great for stubble. That is why I gave it 4 stars even though it didn't work for me.

Go to a hardware store and try out the various sanding materials on your face. They offer a wide variety of grit. If you find the correct level of grit for your unique stubble you are an idiot. If you feel dumb, you grew as a person and probably will not spend $15 on face sand paper. 5 stars for a cheap life lesson that comes with a free pedicure kit. My toenails are insanely smooth.
