LG Electronics 24LJ4540 24-Inch 720p LED TV (2017 Model)

I had a 19" in my bedroom and I wanted something a little larger so I went for the 24". I liked the fact that this was a white TV which is more in keeping with my bedroom colors. I got the wall mount too. When I got the TV, it turned out that the screw holes in the mount I already had on the wall matched so I didn't actually use the mount I had just purchased, even though the former one was black. The TV was large enough to cover the black stand so it didn't matter. I kept the stand because I plan to give the 19" to my grandkids. I figured it was interchangeable.As far as the TV itself is concerned, I am very happy. I had read that some people had trouble hearing it. But reviews of other TV's had the same complaint, so I took a chance. This was not true in my case and I have poor hearing. I found that if you put sound mode on music, the voices were actually clearer than I experience on any of the other TV's in the house. Also, with the larger size I was able to put the CC on and actually read the words. And I didn't have to turn it on particularly loud to hear it. The setup was extremely simple. It actually came with batteries for the remote. There are multiple picture modes and the contrast and colors change with the various modes from vibrant to more muted.We put it up today and I'm just waiting for my husband to go out to his shop so I can go back in the back and enjoy my new TV. Remember when people used to put a disclaimer in their reviews saying they got a discount. They don't do that any more and it makes me wonder how many reviews are basically paid for. So I'm letting you know up front that this is NOT a discounted review. I simply love the TV and wanted to counter the few people that said the sound was too low.

I wanted a small TV for my room. LG has the name brand quality and it was cheap so I gave it a go. With various setting, I found the picture quality that I like and I read some people complaining about the sound, but it is loud enough for me to hear without even raising it 1/2 way. There are some sound mode you can fiddle with for clearer voice.Just couple things to point outSo I've been told that this comes with USB. I found out that the USB is written SERVICE, so I'm guessing it's only for repair and will not power my Chromecast. Just a minor inconvenience of Chromecast not turning off when TV powers off.There is a red light on bottom center when the TV is off. It doesn't bother me when I sleep but it may for some people. And I don't like it when electronic waste electricity for no reason like this.It is small, but very light. I was contemplating getting this or 28" (about $30 difference) If you have the room, get 28". I do have the room and should've got 28".The default picture setting is too sharp. I found that using movie picture setting made softer and easier on my eyes.Maybe due to both coming from Korea, menu looked some what similar to Samsung TVs I have and was easy to navigate through settings.I am satisfied with this initial purchase. LG is very good, reliable brand. I will make updated review once I use it for a period.

Update 11/2021:I'm still amazed of how good this TV is! Again, once calibrated this is such a bargain for both picture quality and sound. Though, if you're not happy with the sound, get the roku streambar.I've also noticed the price increased a bit, not sure why, but at $100-135 this was a very good value, I'd still buy it for $170 but I really hope this isn't getting discontinued.First thing you gotta do is select game mode, then reduce the sharpness and keep it at around 10%, once that's set just adjust the color settings as you like. The picture quality for the money is great! I keep it on most of the time with Hulu, YouTube, etc.The audio quality is also great for an average sized room, but I'm also using a roku device and tweak the sound from there as well. Overall I'm pleased with it, dialogues are clear and has enough lower mids to not sound thin from far. You can adjust the sound from the tv settings as well if necessary, but don't expect low end rumble! Highs and mids however are 9/10, no noticeable distortion at below 20% volume.The only negative I found is the headphone jack, I was not able to hook up a speaker to the TV, but maybe it's just my unit that has this problem. I didn't care enough to return it because the picture and sound quality are great, and I'm not sure a replacement panel will be identical to mine given the low cost.Good value!
