This TENS unit is really excellent for an inexpensive and easy to use device.
The battery really lasts long time. I have been mainly involved in controlling pain in lower back. I find that the "knead" function really works well for this. I highly recommend the butterfly shaped pads from truMedic. When you go to their website, find TENS units, then find "electrodes"; keep looking until you find the butterfly shaped ones. With a little practice, this are easy to apply to the lower back. If you follow directions and take care of them, they can last a month or more. (skip the gel!) Once you have that electrode in place, turn on the unit (press center button), push the correct channel button and "knead". Then use the + to increase the power level. (I rarely need to use level 4) If your pad is in the right location, the pain should decrease in about 1 minute. If not, just turn it off, pull off the pad carefully, and change the location a little. Sometimes, increasing the power can help verify correct placement, then you can lower it if you like. Often the pain will be suppressed when you barely feel the electric pulse. After that, increase the minutes, then hit the little "lock" button. You can even set it on continuous! When it's locked, you can put it in your pocket and it should be fine. For about $30, I think this one is really fine! And you can run it for days without recharging!

Hands down THE BEST!
It's so simple and lasts a long time before charging, going to keep this one simple. It's big like a remote, it works wonderfully and if you don't buy this, buy the mini black cheap one from the same brand which has Power! But is hard to use, this is so simple and easy to use. Love Both and actually hated the tens1000 or whatever it's called machine that hurt to use. I would highly recommend using larger pads if you get any zapping and really want to experience how well this can help with thigh pain and sciatic pain in general when using larger pads of 4x4 or bigger!

Best investment on a budget
I got it for my bad knee because it's been hurting bad for months and I finally took it upon myself to do something about the pain and this works like a charm. Also works for other muscle pains but I use it mostly for my knee I had surgery on a few years back and remembered during physical therapy they used one and I figured I needed one in my life at this point and it was well worth it. It comes charged and I've used it a good 10+ times already and it's still charged so I've not had to actually charge it yet so that's another bonus. It's also small and portable which is amazing to take on the go.Definitely would recommend.

UI Overly Complicated
The user interface is overly complicated. I have an earlier version of this unit which I've had for years and still works. (I only ordered this one because the power switch on my older unit broke off and I had to turn it on and off with a toothpick jammed into the hole where the switch used to be.) The modes on the older unit are simple, no muss, no fuss. This unit is much less straightforward. Also, the unit indicates that it is both a TENS and EMS but nowhere in the instructions does it indicate which setting is which. Lastly... WHY is there no clip on the back of the unit?? If I am wearing PJ pants, I don't always have a pocket to slide the device into. Not having a clip on the back is a huge miss. Two of my pads were stuck together and had to be thrown away. In general, I the pads were not as sticky as others that I have used. Luckily I have a supply of them (and a tube of extra adhesive) so this wasn't a huge deal for me. I highly recommend buying extra pads. Trying to reuse pads is a pain. I have no issue with the function of the device. It operates as intended and works to remove knots in my muscles which relieves pain. Helpful device but could stand a redesign.

Narrowed 10 Pages of Choices to One WINNER
I narrowed down 10 page of Amazon TENS/EMS unit choices to exactly two:A Maytoyo unit and this AUVON unit.My requirements in my selection process:- TENS and EMS both- rechargeable- 4 output channels- 24+ modes- high number of intensity levelsWhen I ordered the two units for comparison and after I took the two out of their packaging, I was leaning towards the Maytoyo. Reason: Far more compact at 2/3 the size, more convenient with a clip for easy attachment, and black pads, which would not show any dirt the porous pad surfaces might pick up.The week-long neck cramp that led to this comparison had finally disappeared by the time they arrived though, so the two boxes sat collecting dust for over three weeks before finally being tested tonight.-----Observations:1. AUVON has high safety and sanitation standards. Their pads come in perforated ziplock bags to verify that the bags had never been opened before they arrived. Each individual bag of pads included a lot number, an expiration number, and a serial number. In visiting my Amazon order, I also noticed that the unit came with a listed serial number.2. The black Maytoyo pads came in three different sizes, including a pair of larger 2x1 pads. The AUVON pads were all of the universal 1x1 size. Of course, all the pads are meant to be replaced over time anyway, so not a dealbreaker.3. While the black pads look much better, I was dismayed to find a clear difference in the level of adhesive between the Maytoyo and the AUVON.The Maytoyo pads had a smoother adhesive texture which might psychologically be associated with higher quality in comparison to the far less even adhesive texture on the AUVON pads. In reality, however, the AUVON pads were so sticky that it took effort to release it from my fingertips for placement, but they all stayed stuck exactly where placed, whereas the Maytoyo pads fell despite easy placements as soon as I shifted even slightly.Again, though, pads are not a dealbreaker.4. Since I'm just testing, I attached only one pair of pads to one output channel. In attaching the cords to their channels, I realized that the AUVON cords smartly incorporated L-shaped connector heads to keep the area relatively tidy in being easy to angle in whichever way is most convenient for the user, whereas the Maytoyo used straight heads that made for messier usage.-----Time to turn on the unit! The Maytoyo uses a ON/OFF switch at the bottom of the remote, whereas the AUVON requires a long push on the power button in the middle of the remote to avoid accidental activation. Both screens incorporate blue backlighting for higher legibility.-----5. Functionality - this is involved enough a comparison to warrant breaking it into parts:The AUVON controls are super straightforward, and admittedly the clearly-labeled plethora of buttons linked to individual functions made quick work of figuring out the remote. Tradeoff: The remote is the size of the universal TV remotes I haven't even seen in probably a decade. The Maytoyo, on the other hand, trades ease of functionality for a compact form, except there are no options supporting individual body parts, which I found helpful in the AUVON.The Maytoyo also neglected to include a backpedal button, so users have to actively cycle through literally all 24 functions to cycle back around. As UX design is a large part of my profession, this was a pet peeve.6. The timer on the Maytoyo went up to 90 minutes. The timer on the AUVON did as well - and then offered a "constant" option that simply keeps going until the user turns off the unit or it runs out of power.7. But how well did they actually function? The Maytoyo gave more power off the bat, whereas the AUVON started more subtly. In amping them up bit by bit while testing the exact same kneading, acupuncture, and tapping functions, the Maytoyo was clearly buzzier and, depending on the function, sharper than the AUVON. Notice I said sharper, not necessarily stronger. It was uncomfortable enough at times that I would lower the intensity on the Maytoyo while I continued amping up the AUVON.-----Within less than 20 minutes of getting the boxes out, the AUVON won, hands down. If the AUVON retains full functionality while incorporating a smaller remote with a clip in a new model, I'll be first in line to upgrade.
