Awesome knife, crummy sheath
This is a spectacular survival and tactical knife. It has a very robust blade with an excellent Veff serrated cutting section that will saw through just about anything. The handle is ergonomically shaped to fit really well in your hands. I have large hands and this handle is MUCH better than the handle on the SOG seal pup. The grooves on this handle provide great grip even when covered with mud or other slippery liquids. The knife is full tang, which means the metal of the blade goes all the way to the end of the knife. This provides several benefits. One is that if the handle is ever destroyed in extreme survival conditions, you could still use the knife effectively. Secondly, it makes the knife stronger because there isn't a "weak spot" where the blade ends and the handle overlaps. Finally, the end of the full tang is a butt that can be used for smashing or for prying things open so you wont damage your blade trying to get away from the zombie hordes. Now for the bad news. The sheath is weak sauce, which is made all the more obvious by the sheer awesomeness of the knife. So by all means, buy the knife but complain mercilessly about the sheath and maybe CRKT will design a better one out of shame. I would even pay more for a better sheath were that option available....

Solid tactical/survival knife
I just received the knife today, so this is a first impression review. I will start with the sheath. I am a soldier, so I purchased the knife to attach (upside down) to my kit. There is paracord attached to the sheath and numerous, very tight, slits in the back for you to weave the cord through. It is a bit of a pain, but you can manage to get the sheath fitting quite snuggly on your kit. It is obvious that more attention was paid in making the sheath more convenient for leg wear than molle gear. The pocket on the front is oriented to be upright if it's on the leg, so it is pretty much useless once you attach it to your kit. Next, the belt loops aren't detachable, so you either have to cut them off or try and weave them through the rest of your molle at the bottom. I don't have room for that on my kit and don't ever plan on wearing it on my leg, so I cut the loops off. The snaps that hold the knife in place are detachable. They hold the knife snuggly, but they make it a bit difficult for quick draw. Now that I've covered the sheath in detail, on to the knife. Being full tang, it is very sturdy and solid feeling. The pry bar at the bottom is a bit bigger than I expected and that's a good thing. I wasn't sure it would be big enough to really get leverage, but I foresee it being quite functional. The grip is ergonomic, though probably a bit small for those with bigger hands. I have small hands and it is quite comfortable for me. The serrations are nice; I cut through a cardboard box with ease and it made quick work of a rolled up towel (only things I had handy at the time). The blade was sharp out of the box, but not razor sharp. The black finish was glossy which was unexpected. In the picture it looks like more of a matte finish. This isn't necessarily a bad thing unless you are seriously concerned with glare.Overall, I am pleased with the knife and not so pleased with the sheath. It is worth more than the price paid.

THIS IS THE ONE!
I searched along time for a good knife like this! I bought many others before I got this one. This is by far the best!CONS:- The sheath is an over-engineered joke, throw that in the street.PROS:- "Soft Tanto" so it won't wear out as easily.- Super slick new serrated. Find the YouTube clip of this being used!- Thick, strong, sharp blade. Factor sharp cuts arm hair.- Top of the line handle. Good grip even when wet. Fits all hand sizes. (Grip is VERY important to me)- Pry-bar/hammer at the butt which is nice so you don't have to damage your blade picking at stupid stuff.- It has a good "blade to handle" ratio which I mean it won't come out of your hands due to leverage.- Full tang of course and it does have some good weight to it cause there is alot of metal here.- Handle is installed with glue and small allen screws so you can work on it if you absolutely had too.I have LOTS of knives and if I could only grab one knife on the way out the door on doomsday, it WOULD be this one.Dave Powers

Good knife
Was looking for a good tactical knife. This knife is cool. It fits the hand well and with the handle design won't slip. Blade is sharp and has a great serated section that will cut through rope easly. Heavy duty knife that will get the job done. The sheath on the other hand is just to much. It is not simple and has to be worked with to get it to fit on your leg. The belt loops have velcro that catch on your shirt or jacket. Has a leg strap and some para cord to tie on to the leg, this stuff just gets in the way and hangs up on branches. The small pocket might hold a sharpner but none that I have. CRKT should just keep it simple and make a sheath that holds the knife so it could be there when you need it. Knife is good, sheath over done.
