This is a great laptop cooling pad and does exactly what I wanted. Most cooling pads are hard plastic with pointy legs. I actually use my laptop on my lap, so these other types are very uncomfortable. The Targus chill mat is very soft and comfortable, while still being rigid and supportive. Just a thin layer of cushion on both sides makes all the difference. I did have to get used to the increase in height but it is worth while.And most importantly, it WORKS. My Dell laptop would get So hot very quickly that it was uncomfortable both on the top and the bottom. As soon as I plug in the fan it is cooled off within just a couple minutes. I highly recommend this cooling pad. I don't know how long it will last. I often forget to unplug the fan when I stop using the laptop because it is SO SILENT so it runs overnight. I Have to lift the laptop and put my hand over it to tell if the fans are running.Overall very pleased. I paid full price for this and am not compensated for this review, just a happy customer. My M3 Macbook kept overheating whenever I'd switch between two different profiles. When I opened the item, I was disappointed that the usb is on the right, not the left, so I didn't plug the fan feature in. I used it heavily with dual profiles and I'm really amazed that it never got hot, just a little warm. Because of the hollow design, this little thing works well without usb due to its excellent ventilation. Highly recommend. It's also the perfect height and slant to work on my lap while sitting in my recliner! And it's whisper quiet without vibration with fans plugged in to usb, too!

I REALLY LIKE THIS LAPTOP COOLER. FANS ARENT VERY LOUD. IT ARRIVED TODAY AND IS ALREADY MAKING MY LAPTOP RUN COOLER. CAN TELL JUST BY THE TOP OF LAPTOP BEING COOL TO TOUCH INSTEAD OF WARM TO VERY WARM. I-7 PROCESSORS DO TEND TO RUN HOT IN LAPTOPS. TARGUS HAS A GREAT REPUTATION. I WOULD GIVE IT 5 STARS BUT SINCE ITS DAY ONE I CAN'T COMMENT ON LONGEVITY. HAVING HAD EXPERIENCE WITH TARGUS BEFORE THEY APPEAR TO LAST LONGER THEN THE OTHER CHEAPLY MADE BRANDS. GOT IT ON SPECIAL. NO SILLY LED LIGHTS TO PLAY WITH. PLUG AND PLAY. THERE IS A LITTLE OVERHANG OFF THE SIDES WITH A 17 INCH LAPTOP BUT PLENTY OF ROOM FOR FRONT TO BACK. AND WHEN ITS NOT SITTING ON THE BED MY LAP STAYS COOL ALSO. LOL ON SPECIAL IT WASNT MUCH MORE THEN THE CHEAPER MADE GLITZY LED LIGHTED MODELS. IF I WAS TO COMPLAIN IT WOULD BE THAT THE BASE IS MADE OUT OF A THICK PLACTIC WHICH MIGHT CUT DOWN ON WEIGHT BUT I HAVE HAD TARGUS LAPTOP CHILLERS THAT WERE MADE OF ALUMINUM AND THIS IS ACTUALLY MORE COMFORTABLE SITTING IN MY LAP. THE BUILT IN USB CORD FOR USB POWERED . ONE REVIEWER SAID HIS ORIGINAL LASTED 6 YEARS WITH NO CLEANING OF THE FANS. THEY CAN BE REMOVED AND CLEANED PERIODICALLY SO THER IS LESS STRESS ON THEM. AND THEY ARE SECURELY SCREWED IN PLACE SO THOSE PESKY CLIP ON FANS DONT FAL OFF LIKE SOME OTHERS. THANKS TARGUS.

I specifically purchased this one because it doesn't have "legs" that would poke into MY legs (since that's how I primarily use my "laptop" -- you know, on my LAP -- like it's meant to) and for the neoprene fabric over the plastic. Sounds much more comfortable than hard, sweaty plastic! It works great! The fans are quiet, the laptop (and my lap) stays cool, and it's super comfortable sitting directly on my legs. The rubber grips hold my laptop in place perfectly so it doesn't slide down even if I am (because, let's face it, sometimes I slouch) ;)

This is the second Targus Cooliing Mat I have purchased. I still use an older one for another laptop I have. I know that some have had concern with the background fan noise (mainly for recording purposes), but I have not had an issue with the fan noise (about 38-40dBz max) in normal daily use. From my personal experience, I believe the Targus Cooling Mat has help extend the life of my laptop, dissipating heat from the chipset/motherboard/etc...inside my laptop, allowing for better performance on my laptop. Erognomically, I have never had any discomfort using the Cooling Mat as a platform on my lap or on a table top surface. It seems to be a reliable, rugged, and long lasting product, worth the price.

This works fine for what I need it for - a lightweight way to cool down my laptop so it doesn't get too warm when it's on my lap or a warm surface. The fans are extremely quiet and work fine, although I don't know if they'd stand up to heavy gaming. The surface is fairly nonslip, although not entirely. Overall it's fine for the price. What this loses two stars for, though, is the very misleading, borderline fraudulent product description. The prominently placed ad copy states that it comes with a 4-port integrated USB-A hub - as it turns out, this is true only of the far more expensive model. The tilted model has only the power cord. Fortunately I already had a separate hub, which worked fine, but I would probably have selected a different product if I'd realized this was false advertising. The tiny "models may have different options" language way down the page does not make up for the problem. Beware if you're buying the cheaper version!
