3-12959 OR Y312959 Premium Quality Dryer Drum Drive Belt

After trying belts from two other suppliers, I was almost ready to give up. Then I found this source - the belt is almost 100" long, as it should be. So it fits. The other two were 98" or 92" despite being described as being 100" belts.

Worked great. Made an old dryer run like new. May be we can get another 30 years out of it. Be sure to check the rear rollers run smooth while you're in there. They sometimes cause the belt to fail.

Worked nicely for the first 2 loads, by the 3rd, i noticed the drum wasn’t turning smoothly and after looking, the belt had already frayed and started wrapping around the pulley system. Not worth the purchase.

This belt fit our Maytag dryer that is probably 30 or more years old. (I'm pretty sure this is the first repair it has ever needed!) From watching a video online I was aware of which way the grooves on the belt should face (smooth side against drum.) I had never replaced a dryer belt before, and it was a bit awkward. It took a bit of analysis to figure what the correct routing was for the belt. Then you have to fit the belt on the pulleys without be able to see what your are doing. But I succeeded. I now appreciate that the $150 quote I received from an appliance repairman was not unreasonable. That's what I would charge, lol. The entire mechanical area of the dryer was covered with a thick layer of lint accumulated in decades of use. It's probably not a bad idea to take your dryer apart and vacuum it out annually. I lubricated the roller axles, but it might not have been a bad idea to buy the kit with the belt and rollers.

This is not a "made in the USA" OEM product as shown in the photo. The belt I received had nothing but a couple numbers on it and no other markings to indicate what brand or quality it is. It seems to be working so that's good. I won't be surprised if it breaks, but so far so good. Will update review if it doesn't last.

The belt on our dryer snapped on a Sunday morning, where could we get another asap? We bought this on Sunday afternoon and it was delivered on Monday. Perfect timing, we could not ask for better service, especially since we live in the country and it is difficult to buy supplies like this.

Please note that for some Maytag models, the smooth side goes down around the drum and not the ribbed side. It also needs to wind a bit differently as a result. Hope that saves you a bit of frustration. For me, I thought I bought the wrong size and couldn't figure out what was wrong right away. So far so good on the belt itself.
