This Humpty Dumpty just had his great fall
Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall.Humpty Dumpty had a great fall. All the king's horses and all the king's menCouldn't put Humpty together again.Although Humpty Dumpy is the anthropomorphized egg who appeared in the well-known Mother Goose rhyme, he also pops up in Lewis Carroll's "Through the Looking-Glass," where he has a most interesting discussion with Alice regarding semantics. As to his origin there are theories that Humpty Dumpty was (a) a powerful cannon that was mounted atop a church in Colchester that defended the city against siege in 1648 during the English Civil War, (b) a reference to King Richard III, the supposedly hunchbacked monarch who fell off of a horse named Wall at the battle of Bosworth Field, (c) a Roman war machine called the Testudo that was used to cross moats and climb over castle walls, and (d) medieval slang for a short, clumsy person (the idea being that the explanation for the story is that Humpty Dumpty is an egg, which, you will note, is not mentioned in the rhyme).None of those explanations suffice when it comes to McFarlane Toy's "Twisted Fairy Tales" version of Humpty Dumpty, who has just suffered the aforementioned great fall. If you thought a cracked shell was a bad thing, wait until you get a gander at maggot-infested insides of this Humpty Dumpty. This figure is not for breakfast, that is for sure, but the idea is a bit better than the execution. The again, do you really want the insides of Humpty Dumpty to be so gross that you would swear you can smell rotten egg? I think not, which is why I consider this the least compelling figure in the Twisted Fairy Tales collection. This is a hit or miss figure as far as I am concerned.Twisted Fairy Tales is the fourth series of McFarlane's Monsters, and the rest of the menagerie consists of Red Riding Hood, Peter Peter Pumpkin Eater, Little Miss Muffet, and the tag team of Hansel and Gretel (who are sold separately and not as a set, just to be clear here). Once you look at Humpty Dumpty you know that these are sick, twisted figures, intended only for mature audiences. That is because if you are old enough to know about the English Civil War, Richard III, Roman war machines, and medieval slang, then you know that most nursery rhymes originate from such fun things as the Black Death. You youngsters probably just thought Mother Goose had a twisted sense of humor, and McFarlane Toys has certainly confirmed your suspicions with these figures.

Humpty Dumpty is cracked in more than one way!
This Humpty Dumpty figurine, from the Twisted Fairy Tales series, is a fun toy. While disgusting to look at, it is nonetheless fascinating. The series Twisted Fairy Tales gives a glimpse of how these nursery rhymes and fairy tales might have looked if Stephen King or Clive Barker had rewritten them. This is the first piece I collected, and it is a neat find.

So disgusting it works
Have you ever seen the movie Se7en? If you have, then you have seen Humpty Dumpty. While Humpty was origionally an egg, here he's more like an obese (overly) man who, instead of getting cracked was more like disemboweled. This is where simplicity meets detail and works, better than lets say 'Peter Peter Pumpkin Eater'...It's simple in that there are not a lot of small pieces and such...it's just a big blob of plastic, but it's detailed in that there is a lot going on here. The detail is, for lack of a better word, disgusting, but then again, so is the thought of a broken egg (yolk is messy)...So, as I've mentioned before, these are less 'toys' and more shelf space and that's how we like them...on the shelf in their plastic and meant to be owed at because McFarlane is a genious.

Sidesplitting
Humpty Dumpty - man this is a pretty gross looking figure and that's what makes it so good. It's nasty and repugnant but fits well into the "Twisted" series. This was the hardest figure for me to find but is worth the search to complete this brilliant set. While the series shines on the girls presented, this is the best male figure. This shows why gluttony is a sin.
