In 1892, Milton Florsheim began producing shoes in a small factory located in Chicago, Illinois. The first pairs of Florsheim shoes made by Milton and his father, Sigmund, were a remarkable combination of style, comfort and high quality workmanship. This tradition continues today with the Florsheim family's commitment to producing trend-right, high quality footwear. Florsheim shoes are always available in a wide range of sizes and widths.

Exactly what I was hoping for
First, let me commend the seller for promptly fulfilling and shipping the order. I received my item in 48 hours, though I did pay $5 for upgraded shipping. Now on to the shoes. I am a bit of a shoe snob, and have multiple pairs of Allen Edmonds, Ace Marks, and Thursday boots, among others. Over the years, the reputation Florsheim previously established as purveyors of quality men's dress shoes, built for life, has waned. However, their styling has remained timeless, for the most part, in an era when many shoe manufacturers are trying anything to move product (I'm looking at you, Allen Edmonds). When I found these monk straps, I was relieved to finally find something in a 3E width that still had a stylish last and overall profile. The price was reasonable for what the product appeared to be, though I didn't expect Horween leather (spoiler alert: the leather is very meh). But I figured what the heck, at less than half the price of Allen Edmonds, I'll try a pair of shoes in a slip on style that is sometimes difficult to find a proper fit in, and if it doesn't work out, I can return them through Amazon. The shoes arrived and I was pleasantly surprised. Granted, like I previously stated, these are not Aldens, Allen Edmonds, Loakes, or anything of the sort. But the price isn't either. Their styling is fashion forward enough that they make a statement, but not so haughty that they'll make a scene. And the overall quality is well worth what you'd expect at this price point.I was also extremely satisfied with the fit and comfort, right out of the box. They fit very well, with no heel slippage, with a generous amount of room in the toe box, even for my extra wide clod hoppers.I have only worn them around the house for a bit, but I can already tell that the leather, while once again not anything high end, is not even creasing to the level of my Ace Marks, which I paid twice the price of these for.Overall, extremely satisfied, both with the product and the seller.

Very sharp looking shoe for business wear and a good value.
I ordered these shoes in black and brown. My normal size is 10.5 D so that's what I ordered. The fit is very comfortable right out of the box. I gave both pair a couple of coats of shoe polish and the leather seems to take the polish well. The sole is synthetic but stitched and frankly that is a plus for me. I find leather soled shoes slippery on both carpet and granite floors. They absorb water in the rain. And they don't wear as well as modern synthetic materials. I hardly wear my leather soled shoes these days.As for looks, I think these are sharp looking. I like the smooth minimalist styling. The buckles become the focus and the overall shape is sleek without having a ridiculously pointed toe. The cap toe adds a bit of a formal look. It's completely subjective but I like something unadorned like this better than a wingtip look.Color.....The black is well, black and the soles are made to look like leather. The brown is a dark brown. Not quite as dark as the photos on Amazon would indicate but very definitely a brown. Not light brown, not tan, not super dark. Just a solid brown color. At this price, I can't really see why people are complaining about quality. Personally I can't justify spending $400 on what would be essentially a shoe with the same styling from another manufacturer or $190 for the same shoe from Florscheim with a leather sole. Since I have maybe 10 pairs of shoes in my closet and I rotate them every day, my shoes tend to last me several years. These monk strap shoes will fit into that rotation just fine while keeping about $600 in my pocket. I'm betting no one standing 5 feet away will ever tell these aren't the expensive brand. And if they do, I don't really care.

A little larger than expected, but otherwise great shoes
I really wanted a pair of monk straps and they sent me the wrong shoe my first go-round, but these are nice. A little bigger than I expected, but not so much I can't wear them. I hate buying shoes without trying them on, but it's hard to find 13-14 men's dress shoes on the shelf. These are a little bigger and a little wider than I thought they'd be, but they fit comfortably on the smallest button hole with the buckles, if not as snuggly as I'd like. Also, I got quite a few comments on them their first day out, which is why I picked them up, so I can't complain. Next time I'll go down half a size, though.

Good shoe overall
I ended up returning these but almost feel like that was the wrong decision. They are a nice shoe. The design is very good with only a few small dings.- The sole is shiny on the top. It made me feel like I had a tuxedo rental shoe from when i was a kid.- The buckle strap holes were not all punched through. I had to punch them through with the buckle. This gave me a negative impression overall.

They run big
Nothing but good things to say about this shoe. I got it for a great price and they look incredible. The shoe is a good quality leather. It is a well constructed shoe, the bottoms look sharp and are durable. I am normally a size 10 and it says it fits true to size so I trusted it. They do run a little big. My ankle slips out a bit in the back and there is a noticeable amount of room up front. I would not mind going down a size and getting a 9. But besides the fact that they run big they are a great shoe and I would recommend them to everyone.

Cheap Leather
The leather is coated one, which means that the shoe will easily crease in an unpleasant fashion. Runs a little bit larger than other shoes like others have mentioned. The welt is also a fake Goodyear welt. I know, if I want a full grain leather and a real Goodyear welt I must step up to at least a pair of AE. And that is what I am doing.

Awesome shoes!
These took a while to break in, as good quality shows should. Once broke in they have been great! I've had these for about 8 months and they still look brand new! I've had so many compliments on the style! Very happy with my purchase and will be purchasing more in the future! Thanks for a great product!
