When delivered, it doesn't look like it's all there, just two packages. Open it all up an you will find that a lot of the parts are zipped in the headboard. It's sturdier than you expect from a wooden frame, mainly due to the bits of metal screwed into it which interlock and the screws into the metal frame in the headboard.As long as you take your time and read the instructions, it will be easy. Saying that, I stumbled on a couple of steps and had a couple parts left at the end... there are two bars which you need when connecting the gas pistons to the bed frame .... if you find that you the part that the mattress will eventually sit on seems to be a bit too short and you really need to work at getting the two gas pistons to connect to that bed support, I suggest you check that you have used the metal support between the piston and the frame of the bed... if you have used it, the top of the bed frame will fit easily. It can be built by one person with the occasional hand from someone else ... I had a 6 year old helping me and we put it together with no problems .... although we did take more than 1.5 hours as we were treating it as a holiday activity and life lesson in DIY.You really have to press down hard on the bed to get the "lid" to close, it almost feels like its going to break... you can unconnect one of the pistons which halves the pressure needed, and open and close it a few times to loosen it up a bit and then do the same for the other side... after a few weeks, it has loosened up a bit and is now just stiff rather than glued stuck and much more usuable.As a bed, it's lower than my old frame by 3 inches so I'm sitting lower than I'm used to... it also reduces the storage but this is all subjective and dependant on what your current bed is like. It does hold a fair amount of stuff inside and has freed up a lot of space in my room.I don't think a child would be able to open and close this easily but as an adult I think that this is a very good buy. I cannot comment as to the longevity of the bed because I've only had it a few weeks but it feels fairly solid.

I read the reviews for this bed from others and looked at big brand sites and it’s the same and took a gamble and bought this even with the harsh reviews, but I have to say for the price it think it is fair , it look my husband about 3 hours with a little help from me. The instructions are backwards yes but you pay for what you get, other than that I think it’s a good bed, for me it’s not squeaky it’s rather comfy. The bolts and battered now but hey it doesn’t matter. I like it and that’s all that matters , looks really smart. Thank you Amazon.

Great delivery! Looks amazing with easy to follow instructions. Took a couple of hours to build but not too difficult. Great price also as a shop in town was charging £90 more. Would highly recommend!

I write this after just one night of sleep on it but here goes.I found building it easy, (I followed the instructions)It has a number of strengthening points that a previous ottoman bed didn't have & this made me feel confident with it.I took my time building it and it was done easily inside 90 minutes.The only thing that kept bugging me while building it was this - the sides and ends have velcro running the entire way around as there is a sheet of fabric that lays underneath the bed. The velcro on the bed was the stiff half and this caused it to keep sticking to the carpet. Had the soft side of the velcro been put on the bed pieces, I would not have said nasty words to it a number of times. But that is all.The bed feels strong and the other revies and question responses that I had suggest it will continue to be strong.

Rated with one star review as I had to give a star rating...would not have given a star if that was an option. Purchased this bed a week ago for our daughter's room. Instructions are not detailed enough & it took 3hrs to assemble. Some of the pre-drilled holes didn't line up & once assembled the top bit was put down to a bed position & that's when the piston bent, so having spent 3hrs putting it together it broke before anyone got a chance to use it, so it was taken apart again & a return was requested for faulty goods. Please be aware you CANNOT return this item once assembled but we were offered a replacement part if we sent photos. After such an awful experience the newly purchased bed found a new home at the tip! My husband was not going to spend another 3hrs assembling a bed that was already broken. You get what you pay for I suppose, we couldn't afford to waste our money but it was not wanted due to its poor quality. We might have just been unlucky but our experience has not been good. The idea of a side lift was great in theory had it worked, as it was purchased for a small bedroom 😕

The bed itself is lovely but the hydraulic system is way to still.. after 3 of us trying to push the bed down it kept popping back up. Even now the bed stays down but if I lift it up to put something underneath I can’t push it back down on my own it feels like it’s going to snap.

Just bought and st up the other week. Instructions are almost perfect but did miss out the metal bars which you need to add first to the ends before you mount the base to the bed but no big deal. The pneumatic springs are stiff to say the least. Daughter sitting right in the middle and still would not go down. I have to go upstairs and put it back down for her each time. If you only push down in the middle it really bends badly so you have to spread out your hands to as close the ends as possible then push down.I am sure it will get slacker over time which is better than it just falling down all the time I suppose but if you are heavy then maybe you could just sit on the side of the bed and it would go down. Daughter is only 10 so not much too her.So despite a little effort in assembly and the bed being actually quite an effort to put back down it is overall very good for the money, looks very stylish in her room and has added a lot of neat storage she is now using.
