The media could not be loaded.  It's almost embarrassing to admit that I have been using the same pastry brush for over 30 years - wooden handle, camel hair (or could be horse hair, who knows?) and all. I actually think I took it from my mother's kitchen and there's no telling how many years she had used it before I "borrowed it." After a few stray hairs had started showing up in my cooking, and the ends of the hairs on the brush looked like they were in desperate need of a visit to the salon, I thought it might be time to retire my old brush and step into the modern age of small kitchen tools.This set of two pastry brushes was exactly what I was looking for. I was amazed at how soft and flexible the bristles of the brushes are making the jobs of baking, grilling and basting so effortless. Yep, it's all about the right tools to do the job. I did a video to show you the performance of the green brush when using it to paint with egg whites during the baking process, but I the black is really just as easy to use. It is a bit larger in size and I found that it makes spreading BBQ sauce on your meats while grilling an easy process. The handle stays cool and does not melt in the heat and I can get an even layer of sauce across the food. I've also chosen the black brush for basting meats in the over because it holds a nice amount of juices and I can spread them easily to keep the meats moist and flavorful.One benefit I really like from these brushes is that they don't retain flavor after they are used. The old brushes had to be cleaned very carefully so that it would not transfer flavors from the last dish to what you are working on next. These brushes clean up easily and can be hand washed or placed in the dishwasher. These brushes were well thought out, well made and will be a well loved long term member of my kitchen.

I love these brushes. Here are the reasons why:1. Easy to clean! - I have silicone brushes that the tip is removeable to clean and I can't stand them. It's too hard to find a spot in a dishwasher for them and they don't seem to clean very well. These brushes are easy to clean and are all one piece. I put them on the top rack and viola...done!2. They are one solid piece. - This ties into my first reason. I love that there are no parts that I need to keep track of. When I grab it from my utensil jar the whole brush comes and not just the tip. I don't have to grab the tip and then search for handle. Having everything in one piece makes it very convenient to grab and get to work.3. Spreads sauce/oil/etc. very evenly. - I made roasted spaghetti squash with EVOO. I used both brushes to see if there was a difference when I spread the oil all over. There wasn't a difference other than size. I loved how it spread the EVOO equally around the squash and didn't stay on the brush. It coated it without needing to go over again and again.I highly recommend these brushes. They are easy to clean, use and do exactly with they are supposed to do. I can't wait to try these out with some BBQ sauce on the grill or spreading butter over a pie crust. You won't be disappointed with these brushes.

I only received one. Then went on line and asked where the other one was. They sent it to me. They are nice but not like my mother's which got thrown away after she died. Don't know what kind of bristles they were but you never washed them.

This Silicone Pastry Brush Set, from Montreal Baking, is very nice. The larger of the brushes is 10" x 1 3/4", and the smaller one is 8" x 1 3/8". They are made with 100% food grade silicone, so they won't melt, warp, discolored, or shrink. The brushes are well made and ergonomically designed. And, even though they are lightweight, they are strong, yet flexible. These brushes are able to withstand temperature up to 446°F/230°C, and are therefore dishwasher safe. They are perfect, not only for baking, but also for grilling, basting and applying marinades. I'm sure they would be a welcomed addition to anyone's kitchen.

Overall, I was very satisfied with the quality of the silicone pastry brush set. I liked that the brushes had some weight to them. They felt solid and natural to use. The bristles were close and very flexible. They held on to the egg wash nicely and made it easy to apply to the non flat surface of the bagels, for example. The brushes were effortless to clean and dried thoroughly. The bright green colored pastry brush is easy to find in my drawer of utensils. I look forward to using these products again next time I am cooking, baking or grilling. I highly recommend this product for the home chef.

In spite of the reviews, these brushes are NOT for the BBQ. They are to small. And Amazon will not allow a return even though they have not been used. Very disappointed. I have not encounter this before.

I love these brushes. They came packaged in a nice cardboard box that could easily be given as a gift. These brushes are lightweight but very sturdy. I have used them both inside to brush butter on potatoes and to baste chicken in the oven and also outside on the grill to baste fish and steak and every time I've used them they have worked great! The shape is nice and easy to hold in a larger hand like my husbands and a smaller hand like mine. The cleanup was extremely easy. I both hand washed and washed them in the dishwasher and no food was stuck between the bristles. I've already thrown the brushes I previously used away and will use nothing but these!

My order was fulfilled quickly....just in time for Valentine’s Day baking and cooking. I am very satisfied with this set. I have used the larger brush to glaze chicken and meatloaf so far. It spreads evenly and easily, and the clean up is quick. I accidentally left the brush on top of my stove while the oven was on for over 30 minutes and it definitely withstood the heat. I look forward to using these brushes more and will definitely be buying again!
