I bought this book for my 8 year old grandson for his birthday. It is currently his bedtime story book and he and his mum love it, I listen to them both laughing at the antics Max gets up to. Really good book.

Massive shout out to Stephen Mulhern who has worked an absolute miracle in our house!! I have a very reluctant reader in my 9 year old son (hindered by dyslexia struggles) and bought him “yet another book…🙄” called Max Magic by Stephen Mulhern. It is fantastic, it’s funny, it captured my sons imagination and he absolutely loved it. In fact we both did! He read it out loud to me without even being asked (unheard of!!) The font, the line spacing, the interspersed illustrations…literally everything about it made it a pleasure for him to read. So thank you Stephen!! (Not that you’ll ever see this lol) We can’t wait for the next book.So if you have a reluctant reader at home, don’t give up and give this book a go!!

Not as many laugh out loud moments as I had expected but we did really enjoy this book. Some really good characters amidst a great imaginative story with a few life lessons for good measure. Can't wait for the next installment!

No idea - was a gift for an 8 year old!

Saw Stephen Mulherne on TV a talking about this book. Thought it sounded fun and I got the impression there were tricks you could learn in it. Reports back indicated it was too young for my grandson and only a couple of tricks at the back. I had it sent directly so I haven’t actually seen it myself.
