Does the Freestyle Libre 2 monitor have to be taken out of the case to read the sensor?

No. does not have to be taken out of the case to read. You do have to flip the top cover open.

What is the purpose of the small leather flap on the inside?

Tuck it over reader to help hold it in place.

Does it muffle the sound any?> My reader is barely audible if it is in my pocket.

I keep my sensor in this case all the time. I have no trouble hearing the alerts if it is in the room that I am in.

It mentions a clip. Nobody has mentioned it. Does it have a clip you can use over a waistband? Does it clip snug?

This has a belt loop in the back for sliding it on a belt, hand strap to carry and carabiner clip to hang on a pants hoop. Very well made and easy to take out of case if need to. I love mind. The Libre is very protective in the case!
