stand alone binary output with only ground/(5v or 3.3v) input. Easy to use, good detection range. I should note 1 of them was DOA, but for this price I just threw that one away and didn't worry about it. You can see that some of the assembly is hand done so there can be occasional issues with quality. I'd assume it would have been repairable but for the price I didn't worry about even complaining.Good value, very handy, work well - even at distance of 12-20 feet. If you are having issues detecting at range, rotate the white cap a little and test again. The little white cap has an array of lenses to segment the view and the person/animal has to cross from one zone (lens) to another to get detected, so at maximum ranges you may need to rotate or angle the sensor to get a split view at that distance.
