Possibly the best sled currently available, but my gosh...
When I was a child I lived in an area that tended to get alternating warmer and colder periods in winter, resulting in very "crusty" snow conditions. It was great for sledding on the old "Flexible Flyer" steel-runner sleds, which had fantastic steering ability. Now that I have kids of my own, we live in a colder area there the snow is deeper and like dry powder, so those sleds with narrow runners just sink into the fluff and won't go. All the designated sledding hills in our area ban the steel/wood sleds anyway -- they really are quite dangerous. Our family has a big assortment of plastic and foam-type sleds. Some are the "flying saucer" type, or otherwise smooth on the bottoms so they have no directional control at all. I never liked that feeling of being out of control myself, and it can also be dangerous if there are trees around. Other sleds we have are longer with straight ribbing on the bottom; they at least stay front-forward most of the time, but still cannot actually steer. I have seen other sleds advertised with various steering mechanisms, but they all seem fragile, complex and fiddly, and often involve braking on one side or the other, which of course sacrifices speed. This "Sno Sprint" sled is one of very few plastic, one-piece sleds I've seen that have a practical and reasonably efficient steering ability. This in itself is truly golden, in my opinion, safer and more fun than not steering. This sled is also lightweight enough and flexible enough to be quite safe in a crash with other sledders. You are not likely to crack anyone's skull open with this piece of plastic. So I have to say that this is definitely one of the best sleds on the market.But...As others have pointed out, the sleds we received are not the same as what is currently pictured. To be clear, I'm only complaining about the inaccurate photos, not about what I received. Indeed, I am greatly relieved that I did NOT receive the type of sled pictured, with the "hole type" handles and more large holes right behind where the rope attaches. Those features would be sure to end up broken before one season of use was completed. Note the photo I attached, showing a red sled of another brand (H2O) which broke at the handle. We have two of those, and they would be great sleds, but both broke at the handles. Handles like that are sure to be a breaking point. This current Sno Sprint sled does not have that type of handle, but instead has a narrowing on each side of the "rim" that runs all the way around the sled. I sure wish they just skipped the narrowing as well, as there is absolutely no reason kids can't grip the full-width rim just as easily. The narrowing is just another stress concentrator -- a place for cracking to start.Another crazy and unnecessary stress concentrator is the way the sidewalls of this sled dip down low in the middle. What is the point of that? Either make the sides high and strong, or make them low and uniformly flexible all over. Concentrating all the bending and stress into one place is just inviting cracks... any engineer or designer should have known that.Aside from engineering failures, what is with the marketing on this sled? For one thing, they have had the wrong photos here on Amazon for YEARS and nobody corrects it? Doesn't the manufacturer care that the photos are wrong? And then there is the matter of the steering ability. Like I said, it is great. The ribs on the right side of the sled diverge to the right as they approach the front of the sled, while the ribs on the left diverge to the left. So all you need to do is lean one way or the other. Or more precisely, I usually sit upright at the rear of the sled with my legs on the front corners, so by pressing down on one leg/corner more and the other less, I can steer the sled one way or the other. It's wonderful. So why is steering ability mentioned exactly NOWHERE in the product description? Why is it mentioned NOWHERE on the label of the product itself? This manufacturer is sitting on the goose that laid the golden egg, and they don't have enough sense to advertise that fact!Just to nitpick, I do wish the color scheme was more random swirls. The current sleds with the circular color pattern look like they were used for transporting leaky 1-gallon paint cans.

Get rid of all your other sleds!
Nothing even comes close. I don't know why this isn't the top amazon result when you search for 'steerable sled' or just sled honestly it's exactly what a sled should be: Lean left, it goes left. Lean right, it goes right. Put into powder - it cuts a path - no stopping in deep snow for you! Outspeeds most everything else on packed as well. The sled shape provides just a bit of padding for landing big jumps too.My buddy had one of these that lasted us from when we were 5 to into our 20's - we even towed it behind cars on deep snow on roads. These are well built sleds that absolutely rock. I can't endorse them enough. They are harder to find than they should be for how good of a sled they are, so it was with great pleasure I found this and was able to buy one for my kid who is now old enough for a sled! Yaay! New sled performs same as 30 y.o. sled, will update if anything goes wrong with the new sled!

Did the job but it is NOT the product pictured
Just like other reviewers mentioned, the actual product is not what is pictured. There are no rectangle holes for handles in the front section nor the side, but it is still useable. If you purchase this for the color scheme, you will be disappointed. If you purchase it to use as a sled, you should be happy. Me, I bought it to drag a humongous piece of driftwood back to my car from the beach, and it held up beautifully. Now using the front ropes that are positioned on the sides with all the weight in the sled made the front of the sled bow down into the sand, so I had to keep it higher. That would possibly happen when dragging the sled with children onboard. The reason it loses a star is that the product pictured is not the same one you get, and that seems to be a common issue. That didn't matter to me for my purposes, but it may matter to you.

Kids love them!
We gave these as Christmas gifts to our daughter’s and they have loved them. They get almost daily use and have held up very well so far.

BEWARE: It's not the same as what's pictured.
I purchased this on a recommendation from a friend. We received them today and I noticed this isn't the same mold as the one in the photo. The one that I received was shipped without four handholds. The colors are not as vibrant and mixed either. This appears to be what is described, except for the missing places to hold on to it. Instead, we have a plastic yellow rope which doesn't seem like it will steer this as well as holding on to the missing slots. I'm fairly disappointed. I'll update this review after we go on the slopes.

The shape, slipperiness, and sturdiness of the plastic
It was nice and slippery. The plastic was better than similar sleds we had several years ago. I loved the shape so was happy to find it. My 7 year old grandson and I fit in it. I think it will last several seasons
