It works as nice as any of the same style.
After reading so many negative things about this stand, I decided to buy it anyway. Glad that I did. Anyone should know that a guitar or bass needs some support due to its build. If you want to have it against the walk, a suitable wall hanger will work, but if you gig or play/practice, this is a suitable stand. I prefer a stand like one I have that's called a "Grabber" which simply grabs it and cradles the guitar or bass. The kind that I'm reviewing is not foolproof, meaning it takes a little personal attention to protect your instrument/investment as far as placing it in the stand carefully. It's a good stand.

Best practical efficient easy guitar stand ever
Lightweight, simple, easy, practical way to display and use all my music instruments. Works well for acoustic, electric guitars as well as my bass acoustic guitar and pre-war banjo. Keeps everything safe and handy. Wish I’d had these when I was on the road doing concerts because they take up little space and are so lightweight to pack and easy to set up. When the box arrived it was so lightweight I thought it was something else and was so surprised to open it to discover 3 guitar stands inside?!? All three are lighter than one of my other tall foldable guitar stands. This product and well thought out design is now my first choice for guitar stand and so much more affordable than other stands I’ve purchased over the years. I highly recommend this item.

Very Nice, Sturdy Stand For A Standard Shape Guitasr
I bought a new guitar and have been using a stand that allows the guitar to hang from the head stock. It's a long stand that does not fold up - very inconvenient when going to a gig. So I bought this stand from Amazon for its compact size and portability. It is a very sturdy and well built stand - well worth the price. So why 4 stars and not 5? The new guitar is angled at the bottom, and does not sit squarely on the stand. Because of this, the guitar tilts to one side and could fall over if bumped. So, it's back to the drawing board in my search for a compact stand that will support my guitar. If your guitar is shaped like most (Stratocaster, Telecaster, Les Paul, etc) this is an ideal stand. But for a flying V, Explorer, or other guitar (In my case a Sterling St Vincent) that does not have a rounded symmetrical bottom this won't work very well.

Stable, Steady, Quiet and Soft
Holds my Epiphone base soundly and securely, even when the cat tried to knock it over. It's a great companion to the Amazon Base Stand my BF got but I couldn't acquire before they sold out. I actually like this one better because of the padded arm that stick out in front of the frame making the bass stand up at a slightly higher angle so that it is parallel with the A-frame of the stand. The Amazon brand has a square pad at the top to cushion when the instrument is placed but because it is contacting it on a line only at the top, I imagine this will wear down more across the top eventually leading to the guitar resting against the harder rubber at the top of the frame. With the bent arm of my stand if the foam gets weak I can just slide a new sleeve of foam around it. I'm pleased to have it. I'm glad I have this one different from BF's so I can make a fair comparison. If anything changes, I'll be sure to edit.

It's what you expect.
It's what you expect. The stand might not win any beauty contests, it's highly utilitarian. The guitar-holding-arms are thickly padded, which in my judgement, seems adequate even for my heavy Les Paul. Though I have some concerns that over several years the padding will eventually fail, I don't see that happening in a time-frame which is at all problematic given the price of this stand. If you look closely at the materials, they don't have a high-end, polished feel to them. But they're every bit as sturdy as you want. I knocked around my guitar, wobbled it back and forth, and the stand held on much tighter than I expected. It must be the wide base distributing the weight, and the seated-curvature of the guitar arms.In any case, this thing does it job. Maybe you could spend another $15 to find one that's a little prettier... but there's a guitar sitting on it most of the time anyway.

Well worth the $...
This stand is very sturdy for it's very light weight. I like that the angle is not too extreme so that it can be placed near a wall without the headstock of the guitar hitting. The adjusting mechanism works well. I was originally going to use this at home, but it's going on the road. My heavier Quik-Lok, which is no longer available, will now stay at the house. Also, fyi...I think the foam that rests on the back of the guitar will not leave an imprint. I recently purchased one of those little plastic, foldables (from MF, I think) that has a rubbery, circular back rest. One day I picked my Martin and noticed a tattoo of concentric circles directly in the middle of the back...an imprint of the back rest. Of course I put the stand in the closet immediately. Five months later it is still noticeable, although it seems to be fading.

Good temporary support, not for long term display
I've finally bitten the bullet and bought one of these for my classical guitar. Up until now, I've been naughtily propping it up against a table so it feels like a massive improvement. The supports are coated with a neoprene like foam which is grippy enough to discourage slipping and there is no real danger of scraping the guitar against something sharp. My standard shaped guitar rests on the bottom arms on its front edge and leans against the third support half way up it's back. The stand folds flat and looks functional more than attractive. It is adequately heavy and the base is wide and stable. It rests on four plastic end caps so will rock on a hard floor if it isn't level. It's stating the obvious but the design is fundamentally unable to protect a guitar from being easily kicked over by a klutz or a rambunctuous dog, or even my demolition zone of a cat. Therefore, the stand is suitable as a temporary rest only. For me that doesn't matter because I was firmly instructed by my tutor that the best place to keep a humidity sensitive, solid wood classical guitar is in its case. If you want to look at your guitar as much as play it, I'd recommend finding something that offers more security.

Unfortunately, I had to return
The stand was faulty - one of the base legs was welded incorrectly and meant that the stand wobbled on a flat surface. I would have kept it if it was not faulty, as it did look like it would do a good job, but I couldn't rectify the fault as it was due to a bad weld. However, I think I just got a duff one and, as I needed it for a specific date, I had to buy a different one to get it in time, otherwise I think I would have asked for a replacement rather than a refund - I would consider buying this again if I needed another. Three stars is for the potential ;-)

Flat Pack in a single dimension only.
Stable, functional, easy to get ready to use and folds flat. My only issue and why it loses a star, is that the fold flat state is only in one dimension meaning that the L shape that you see from the side is still present and height is unchanged, so it is not as easy to pack as I would have liked when on the move. On the plus side; without all of the hinges / mechanism that would have been needed to make it do this, the stand is far more stable and quick to deploy.

Compact, versatile and good value guitar stand
I wanted a guitar stand for my son's half-size guitar, but that could accommodate a full-size instrument as he grows. This is perfect, and fits his smaller guitar as well as my electric or acoustic. If you have a very expensive instrument, you might want the added security of a clip at the neck, but otherwise this is a useful all-purpose and easily transportable stand.

Excellent
Perfect. Good value, arrived promptly, I can safely stash my Gibson J35 while messing around with mics, stands and stuff while recording, fold this and put it away when my guitar is in it's case. Otherwise, it turns the guitar into a nice bit of household furniture/conversation piece.
