Martin's Old-Fashioned Real Butter Bread- 16 slice 18 oz. (3 Bags)

I love this bread. I finally found a soy-free bread that tastes like the white bread I grew up with before I developed a soy allergy. It is my "wonder" bread!! It is worth the price. I buy 4 loaves at a time, freezing the loaves I do not use. A trick I use when freezing is to slide half of a regular size paper towel between the bread and plastic bag on all 4 sides (you can buy already cut in half paper towels called quick size). Then re-seal bag getting out as much air as possible and pop in the freezer. No need to use a freezer bag. This way I never have soggy bread when it thaws out and it is as fresh, soft and good as the day it arrived.

Discovered this in Midwest when lived bear the source. Now not in Chicago this I treat myself to a couple times a year if I can to celebrate like my bday. In Chicago Jewel Oscos this was always selling out fast & more difficult to find than say their potato bread. Yeah. It’s that good. So instead of cake I get this. And no none last long enough to freeze as I buzzsaw through the loaves - including heels.I am mot a bread guy. I never touch the heels. Usually.I don’t remember the old recipe of Wonder bread because that is b4 me, so cannot honestly confirm that assertion. The bread doesn’t have huge air bubbles making it more dense & yes, this makes huge difference.I don’t want pB on this (much as I LOVE the stuff) - can’t taste the bread because taste of PB is overwhelming.So expensive. Yes. True. That sucks. Hence for special occasions when I save up $$ or when I really miss home only & (sadly) not year round staple. But oh, I wish…when I win the Lottery it will be done.

Remember what Wonder bread tasted like when you were a kid, when it didn't have high fructose corn syrup and a bunch of other crap? This bread is even better than that. It has a soft, pillowy texture while still holding up to whatever you spread on it. And it's only 80 calories per slice. I don't eat bread often but this is my go-to when I want good sandwiches. I haven't tried it for toast yet but I'm sure it will be fine.
