Apple Studio Display - Standard Glass - Tilt-Adjustable Stand

Historically I have love-hate relationship with Apple products. I used Windows for major chunk of my life and I still do for office use. But for home use, Apple MacOS is the best. And if you are using Apple laptop or Mac Mini, then this Apple Studio monitor should be on top of your list. This is a glossy monitor. There are hardly any other brands which have glossy monitor. I don't know why people hate glossy. But I love them. Glossy monitor gives such a crisp and bright picture and text quality, that you will never buy a matte screen monitor. Apple has done a fantastic job. Previously I used LG 4K monitor and the brightness on that was weak. Apple Studio is not only bright but color gamut is awesome. Text, pictures, videos look so nice. I am not into gaming. So I don't know how response time will affect gaming performance. I have an external speaker setup with Creative X7 Amp. But I don't use it anymore. Because the speakers on Apple Studio monitor are more than adequate. I don't use in-built webcam. But it's there if anyone needs it. I have hooked it permanently to my Mac mini and I love this setup. In future, I will never buy any other monitor. I think 27 inches is a perfect size. But I wouldn't mind buying a 30 inch version in future. Price of this monitor is very high. But the features it provides justifies the price in long run. Quite honestly it's a well build monitor and value for money. Don't buy those cheap plasticky monitors which break down after a year or two. You will keep using this monitor for at least 8-10 years. One last point, Because this is 5K monitor, it scales really well with Apple products. Even with ipad Pro M4, which I rarely connect. But it shows full screen for ipad Pro M4. I would like to thank Apple for making a wonderful monitor.

The Apple Studio Display checked off a lot of boxes for me, so I bought it. Apparently, the main complaint most people have with this monitor is that it is too expensive. Well, it’s not cheap, but there’s really not much else out there right now in the fully Mac-compatible world to compete with it, so yes, it is a premium price for an elite machine. Here are the monitor requirements that were important to me: -I wanted a high quality 5K monitor with a beautiful screen. Done, no complaints here. It’s produces beautiful, sharp and bright images and text. -I wanted a fully Mac-compatible monitor. Done. The Studio Display reacts quickly and exactly like the screen on an iMac would; integrated as though it was built into the computer. Screen brightness and volume control are handled by the computer’s keyboard. The Studio Display has no buttons whatsoever. No problem with text font scaling. -I did NOT want a monitor that was on back-order; it needed to be available immediately. Amazon delivered the Studio Display within a couple of days as promised (and for $100 less than Apple’s pricing). -I wanted built-in speakers. The Studio Display’s speakers are excellent. -I wanted a built-in microphone. Check. The mic is very good. -I wanted a built-in camera. Check, even though the images are fairly soft. -The monitor had to look good on my desk. The Studio Display is designed and crafted beautifully with high-end materials. My computer is an M2 Pro, Mac Mini.

As usual, this Apple product is top notch! It is made with recycled aluminum and can be completely recycled at the end of its life. The solidly built case and stand are sturdy and reliable. It looks good while providing excellent service. The 27” 5K Retina display is brilliant with 600 nits of brightness, 1 billion colors, and P3 wide color band, making it the best high-resolution monitor in its class. It works perfectly with Macintosh computers and laptops, factory calibrated for perfect rendition of any photographs or creative art. The super fast refresh rate also makes video editing and game play a real-time, stutter-free experience. I highly recommend this monitor for all Mac users. It is the best monitor you can buy.

I am an amateur photographer, I've been using iMacs for the last 20 years. I grew to love the retina 5k on my last iMac and since I decided to upgrade to an M2 Mac mini, the studio display was my only choice. I certainly didn't want to spend $1600 on a monitor, and no matter how much I wanted to, I couldn't enjoy other monitors. Luckily amazon offered the monitor on sale, and I caved and got the prime card which saved me some extra money and made the cost a bit more palatable. I will say, after using the monitor for the last few months, I am very pleased that I decided to purchase this display, and I know now that if I would have chosen another monitor then experienced the studio display, I would have regretted my decision. The reasons I love this monitor include: brightness, sharpness, colors, center stage camera, build quality, usb c ports and lightning port (lightning cable included), super fast wake up, built in speakers, and the unmistakable apple design. Using this monitor with my m2 Mac mini has been a dream, and I will enjoy using it for years to come.

It was a stretch for me to pay the hefty price for this monitor. But it is a great monitor and I really like it. The color is great. The resolution is great. And the sound is great. The webcam works great too. So it does check of all the boxes. I just think it shouldn't have to cost as much as it does.

many of the criticisms of this unit turn out to be unfair: (1) lack of controls means one less breakable thing to worry about; (2) attached cord is no big deal; (3) you don't need to get the expensive stand, can simply use a riser or art book; (4) price is actually not bad if you get it on sale and considering what it offers. namely, this is a 5K retina. i use it to write and there is nothing that looks anywhere as crisp and fresh. i've also played some games and the graphics look astonishing. it's also a sculptural work of industrial design, as opposed to ugly plastic windows displays. it would certainly benefit from promotion and higher refresh rate, but that would price people like myself completely out. the only competitor is the 24-inch imac which feels like a better deal. i use those at school and they are also wonderful but just slightly too small. 27 is really the sweet spot for me.

I've tried to like this display 3 times now. It is very nice build quality, very bright screen, and the 5K looks nice when i look at text from 1 inch away? For me personally, it is not worth the $1600. I can't raise or lower the display. The height adjustable stand only goes higher. I can't vesa mount it without spending additional money. I feel like i am being ripped off by not being able to change up the mount/stand myself. Most people won't care about these things. It is a nice and seamless display.

Regardless of the perspective, this remains and will always be the superior monitor for any Mac computer. While I have utilized various monitors from LG and other brands that are compatible with my computers, the Apple Studio Display stands out as the most exceptional choice for Mac users seeking optimal video quality and content creation. Although it carries a premium price, the adage “you get what you pay for” holds true in this instance. I highly recommend this monitor, as you will not be disappointed. However, if you are using Windows, it is advisable to refrain from purchasing this monitor, as its performance may not be as satisfactory as it is with Mac computers.
