Excellent results on destroyed drywall!
I totally wrecked my bathroom's drywall when I removed the wall tile from 3 walls. Torn, ripped, destroyed drywall paper everywhere! So I googled how to fix it and this product was recommended by several of my fav DIY YouTubers. I pulled off and/or cut all the big pieces and roughly sanded the rest then painted it with Gardz. It's goes on clear and is SUPER watery--NOT LIKE PAINT AT ALL--not that I cared as long as it worked. I applied it to all the destroyed drywall and to the rest of the upper walls where the 1970s wallpaper was removed but left gummy adhesive behind, then let it dry for the full THREE hours. I applied Kilz Problem Surface primer on everything and can't believe how good the walls look! Now that I can see the problem areas (there's only 2 small areas about the size of a playing card), I'll hit them with a bit of mud, sand, and prime again, then I'll be ready for final paint. I'm SO GLAD I trusted my DIY guys and gave Gardz a try. It really saved me a ton of time, effort, and money because I didn't have to replace all the drywall. Super happy with my results!

A real time save.
Yeah, I am restoring an old house with plaster lath and it's impossible to remove the paint down to the plaster. I was scraping off as much paint as possible and then skimming with joint compound, but the moisture in the joint compound would lift the paint that didn't get scraped off. It was like using joint compound as paint remover. Now, I just peel off the old wallpaper and paint over everything with Gardz and it locks it all down. Then I can skim with joint compound and paint, no problems. It goes a long way too. I think the one 5 gal bucket will make it through the whole job, 2000 Sq tf house. Apply liberally and work it in thoroughly.

Fantastic product I can't find locally
Gardz is one of my favorite new product finds. I am using it to prep walls that were almost destroyed by wallpaper removal. you paint it on the bare patches, then skim with drywall mud for a perfect surface. Without gardz, repair is hit and miss. I used to use Kilz oil based primer. It was smelly and did not always stiffen the torm paper surface. Gards is water based, has a pleasant smell, and works 100% of the time for me. It also seals in the wallpaper glue, so I now spend less time trying to remove it.Another use for Gardz is sealing the edges of MDF before painting. I use gardz to seal and stiffen the porous MDF edges, lightly sand the sealed areas then paint. I get a perfect finish every time!Gardz is also perfect for spot repairs on painted walls. Put it over a drywall repair to seal it, then apply finish paint. No flashing like with regular primers! Rarely need to repaint a complete wall now.I don't understand why Zinsser can't get the big box stores and paint stores everywhere to carry this product. I have ordered now a total of 5 gallons via Amazon. Shipping is expensive and twice UPS rough handling caused product to leak and required it to be reshipped. This great product should be on the shelf in every town!

really helps when walls are damaged
We had damaged dry wall after much wallpaper removal and had to seal with this, then cover with drywall compound, sand everything, then seal with this again. Where the Gardz was applied the primer adhered very well. Any spots we missed we ended up doing again with Gardz. Great product. Thin, milky texture so application is tricky.

Cottage cheese
The consistency of the product was like sacred toilet paper or cottage cheese and a clear liquid. It appears that the can sat on a storage shelf for a very long time. I'm sending it back.
