The product felt a little flimsy. The piece that moves back and forth is weak and will easily move while using the compass. I can see it getting worse over time. But for the money, it has great value.

Learning Resources has put together a nice quality Bullseye Safe-T Compass. This is certainly much safer to have around than the ones with a big freaking spike sticking out and the other side that holds a pencil that you have to keep adjusting.It is so easy since you can set the clear bulls eye over the point you want to start with and then adjust your slide in the ruler to where you want your circle and stick a pen or pencil in to draw it out.Make sure you do not push the bulls eye part out as it does not go back together and stay that way after that happens.Overall, a great tool to have around the house or send to school with the kiddos.

I admit it sounds useful and the concept sounds cool but in actual practice, it fails miserably. It's only function is to be able to rotate freely to allow making a perfect circle. It does not do that at all. It's too stiff to rotate. Just another product that goes in the bad buys bin.DO NOT BUY

I got these because I needed something quickly and had to pay my own money for about 15 of them for a group project for my class. I love triman compasses, but this one definitely doesn't stay in place very well, and they came somewhat bent. I had only mild success with fixing the "staying in place" issue by pressing on the red part to stick it in one spot. That said, they more or less worked for what I needed them for, though if I can get funding for better ones, they would certainly be superior.

These protractors are great--so easy to use, unlike the traditional protractor!

I'm giving this five stars because it is exactly as the manufacturer described and it works very well. Somehow I thought it would extend out and make HUGE circles - but it doesn't. I went back to the description and it didn't say anything like I thought - so this compass is exactly what it should be. Maximum size circle is about 4", entire length of compass is about 6". It does make circles with no holes in the paper, and it is easy to use. Plastic, no sharp edges - safe for children.
