I bought these because of the hype of speed painting as a quicker way to get minis painted. I am not one of those people who just throw paint on an army and hope no one notices they aren't really finished. I paint as though every mini I have is my spotlight character. It's a bit OCD but I like detail. That said I decided to give this a try because I'd prefer to get onto the detailing and have the base coat just look good without 3-4 coats. This speed paint does exactly that. With a good zenithal highlight prime you can get near perfect tone and highlight in one coat. I like that. I did up a few space marines and they looked as good as anything I've done in the past using more traditional methods. The paint itself is really nice, and a little does go a long way (thankfully, cause I'm cheap and I don't like spending money). The colors are rich and the paint is thin enough that the highlighting below helps to define the model instead of covering it entirely, yet the pigment in the speed paint means that the color applied doesn't get lost, even over black. I think these work great as a base coat and I will use them thusly, but I can't really think how I'd use them otherwise, and so they really are a single purpose paint which could be seen as a drawback. I think they do what they are supposed to and I back them up with regular paints for detailing. Together they produce great results.

I bought this for my nephew as he has never painted minis before and he loves the set. I do suggest a slap-chop prime before painting.

Army painter speed paints are great. I use them on all of my models. They take a tiny bit of learning to get the hang of but once you get them down they are incredible. I can literally take a primed mini, one brush, a few speed paints and a nice wash and have a table ready mini in 10 minutes. And what you will find as you get better at painting is you can make the table ready mini with the speed paints and wash, but then put more time in detailing as you improve to make things even better. These speed paints will be useful for your entire hobbying career. Also this is the only way I paint cloth anything these days.

I purchased a set to compliment the speed paints version 1 get that I had purchased last year. I wanted to explore the slap shop method of painting which I was introduced to as well last year. The colors are nice they flow well the included mixing balls in the bottles are great.I haven't had any clogged nozzles like I did with my Vallejo paints but that could be due to the thinner nature of the speedpaints as well.As of all pains you need to shake well but the coverage and vibrancy is nice.My issue with speedpaints is that sometimes you might put too much instead of waiting for it to dry and set prior. You definitely have to get used to the coverage that is provided by these as well as allowing it to dry completely to make sure that you're happy with the color.Overall is a great set, that being said however I do feel to little more expensive than it should be for the amount of paints to come with it.

These are fantastic paints! Super easy to work with using a brush or airbrush. I liked this set so much, I started adding other colors and some speed paint medium. They mix well with each other and they dry pretty quickly. Highly recommended!

These paints are absolutely great. Thing is that you really need to spend some time to understand how much paint is needed to get the right results. It is a balance from a regular type of paint to flooding the area like a wash. You need to be careful since if it goes on too thin, the effect of the highlights won't come through. If too much, it floods the area since it is so thin. Once you get the hang of it, they are really great. Awesome that it comes with a really nice brush also.

Speedpaints are awesome for quick, slap-dash jobs on minis. These feel great and look great. The bottles also have balls inside for better shaking.Only ten colors means you're limited to what you can do with them unless you want to add layers underneath.

Works great!! Pools in low areas, thins at high points. Able to wet blend on the mini.Made painting fun again rather than a chore.Thanks!!

These are always great paints to use on miniatures. With a bit of practice I think I'm getting pretty good now. Next ce and easy then use and the drop method makes sure you don't waste paint.Quick drying time.
