The Gathering Storm (The Jacobite Chronicles) Paperback – July 4, 2016

I had a very hard time getting to the end of this since I know this history pretty well, and could not imagine any good outcome for the well developed, sympathetic characters followed over the previous books. However, is does give a very realistic view of what went on in the Jacobite rebellion from the viewpoint of those participating, including the background and the gruesome battles. Another interesting thing is the almost cartoonishly evil bad guy is in a way upstaged by the coldly naturalistic highland chief, who loves the heroine, but will kill her if she breaks the rules. Not at all a "Highlander" redo. A good historical novel, but if you came for a HEA romance, you will be disappointed.

Some of the glue holding the book together did fail, but the author is a good one and I enjoyed the book

I love this story about a family in a very challenging time in history fighting & sacrificing for a cause they believe in. Great characters too‼️

Book 3 of the Jacobite Chronicles is filled with more danger and suspense but also lots of love and hate. It ends way too quickly so onto book four. I have to know what happens next.

Book 3 of the series provides a less romanticized look at normal life in the Eighteenth Century Scottish Highlands than novels usually provide. I appreciated the knowledge, also the obvious effort to be historically accurate about the Jacobite rising. The characterizations are improving with each book and he subplots becoming more interesting. I'm looking forward eagerly to the next book.

Enjoyable read as I’m much interested in the all things Scotland. Good series to read until the next Outlander book drops

I am so taken by this incredible series.I love the background of the Rising in ScotlandI love the way this author writes and keeps the history involved.

This series of books has a great story line. I found it to be way to drawn out. What i read in the first 4 books could easily have been condensed to one book. I have read 4 books and am so frustrated at this pint i could cscream. I will not read another book by this author. Wish i could get my money back for this. Series.

I am just finishing the last book of the series and it has been unputdownable. I shall be sorry to have finished these uplifting and exciting books. If you like feisty heroines, handsome and rugged heroes in kilts, then these are for you.

When I say, "more of the same," that's a good thing. This is a very entertaining series with some great historical information. I've come to know the characters well and look forward to every step of their great adventure.
