With the unique YayLabs Ice Cream Ball with Inflatable Cover, you can make ice cream while on camping trips, at barbecues, picnics, family gatherings and almost anywhere else. You don't need electricity to make great tasting ice cream. Just add ice and rock salt in one end of the Ice Cream Ball and ice cream mix in the other end. Fun and healthy, but has some design flaws.
Used it without the inflatable cover and it worked well. Must follow instructions to a T, or will leak slightly as cream expands. Is not completely round, more of an oval, so rolls slightly off center if you roll too quickly. Also wish the outside grooves weren't there, not only not very comfortable to roll, but if it does leak slightly before you release pressure and mix before second roll, clean up is hard. Inside metal container aids in quick mix of ice cream, but quick removal from sides can be difficult before continuing to roll. Still was fun for the kids, healthier option for ingredient control, and final cleanup was easy!

My son wanted to make ice cream for his birthday party so I bought this. Easy to mix up the ingredients and the kids did great making the ice cream. My only issue is we couldn't get the ice cream to be stiff. Even after the 20 min is was very soft. We used the heavy cream so it wasn't because of low fat content and I scraped the sides down. I am not sure if rolling it longer would have helped, but we ran out of time.

total camping fail. dont buy this!
Lame. Wish we had used it in the 30 days after we got it so I could return it. It's enormoes, so 4yr olds could not help in the process, so there went that camping activity. The inflatoble cover popped within minutes of gentle handling. A huge mess to clean. Expensive camping entertainment purchased at sunset magazines recommendation. Total fail. Not worth it.

So much fun - and it works
We made ice cream sandwiches on Christmas Day! Made plain vanilla ice cream. We had so much fun running around the basement with this crazy thing. When it is filled with the goodies, it is very heavy. Out little one just led the charge, because she couldn't lift it for long!! Can't wait to try other flavors.

Kids had fun for a while but lost interest after the ball ...
Kids had fun for a while but lost interest after the ball rolled too slowly with the padded cover so we took it off and made up a game. We had to play indoors since it was at night. We adults had fun mixing up some fun flavors... It's a fun product and definitely plan to use it again.

Disappointing
I bought this for my son and his family, but he didn't like it. He said it takes too much work and that takes all the fun out of making your own ice cream.

Really fun! This model is BIG though and with the inflatable exterior, it is even bigger. The kids had a great time rolling it around though and the ice cream was really good.
