Amazing book. Would not have made it through ancient Near Eastern art & archaeology graduate course without it.

A lot of the text is very unclear and some unsubstantiated claims.Some items are specified as being the first occurrence in mesopotamian history, and yet this claim is made for multiple times.Items that are stated as important are hardly explained. For example, opening of mouths is emphasized multiple times and yet never explained in depth.at times, it reads like an exhibition catalog with historical information inserted as bridges.van der meroop ‘history of the ancient near east’ is miles superior although it has fewer illustrations.

Ordered this book for a class I was taking and read it before the semester started.

There are better books on this subject without such an insane price tag. The fact that just renting this book costs so much is sad and gross, a robbery mostly aimed at college students that have to get this book for a class. All the information in this book can be found in any book on the subject, and the cool thing is you can actually keep it. Don't give money to this corrupt racket.
